Toth requested the source for R -66 <br />the authority and approval of the`Conceived -and now <br />constructed collective storm runoff for-discharge-from <br />the South Bend Downtown Renewal Area into the St. Joseph, <br />River <br />President Helmen advised this has been'taken care of <br />by our engineer's Clyde E. Williams & Associates, who <br />have een directed to give Toth & Toth Associates. <br />letters of authority from the-Indiana Agencies relative <br />to storm sewers'. <br />Mr. S abaugh advised Mr. Jaime Peredo, Consultant from <br />C1yde'E. Williams & Associates, Indianapolis, sent a <br />letter under date of September 29, 1971, to.-the Indiana - <br />Strea Pollution Control Board, submitting the pertinent <br />plans for the storm sewer : portion -of the work for their <br />approval 9 Phase I_, R -66. <br />Mr. A henfelter, advised on December 22,•1967; -the pre <br />limin ry proposed sewer improvements were submitted to <br />the S ream Pollution Control Board, and that Clyde E. <br />Willi ms will have gone through .the proper procedures. <br />We ar now awaiting approval of the final plans sub- <br />Or <br />tte . <br />President Helmen directed , that -Toth- &`Toth Associates <br />receive whatever documents we have to substantiate <br />our actions. <br />Mrs. anet S. Allen said that.in -the -paving -of our <br />stree s and sidewalks we are cutting down onthe- water <br />in th East Section.. In using dry. wells, the drainage <br />of th water would go back and-filter - into the ground, <br />inste d of into the river. If the trees do not-get <br />suffi Tent water, they will have to be: constantly re- <br />placel. <br />She s ggested instead of having storm. sewers- in the <br />streets that we place in dry wel-l.s for sewerage. Mr. <br />Slaba gh advised this would place the water level <br />neare the surface and this,water would have to be <br />drain d off.
