Michigan <br />Street, R -66, <br />RESTAURANT & LOUNGE <br />.appeared <br />asking for clarification of <br />their building's <br />TABLED FOR NEXT COM- <br />status. <br />They only occupy the first <br />floor of the build- <br />MISSION MEETING, R -66 <br />ing. <br />Mrs. Anastasio stated they are not in a position to <br />negotiate with prospective tenants, nor improve the <br />property to make it more attractive and profitable. <br />Commission Legal Counsel, Mr. Bruce C. Hammerschmidt, <br />stated the Commission will have to arrive at a decision <br />for Mr. and Mrs. Anastasio's benefit, not to create a <br />hardship, <br />The matt r was tabled for the next Commission meeting, <br />schedule for June 4th. <br />b. r. Charles Ehnin er, owner'of Ehnin er's EHNINGER'S FLORIST <br />Florist $hop, at Ill W. Wayne Street, and Mr. David SHOP- &•DAINTY MAID <br />Hab, own r of the Dainty Maid Bake Shop,-at 231 S. Michi- SHOP, R -66 <br />an Stre t, were present seeking information regarding <br />the Downtown Pedestrian Mall. <br />Mr. Hab stated they have a very heavy flow of traffic <br />in the course of a day's time. Their concern is if all <br />the traffic is taken off Michigan Street, .their type of <br />customers will not visit the store. He stated the Scotts- <br />dale Mall and the Town & Country Shopping Center have in- <br />vited them to their area; however, they would prefer to <br />remain in the Downtown Project. If not, they have to <br />search for another location. <br />President Wilhelm said the current plans for the Mall <br />calls for no vehicular traffic, but do anticipate a <br />parking ramp at Wayne and Michigan. <br />At the end of the meeting, these two men were personally <br />escorted by members of the Redevelopment staff to view <br />a scale drawing of the downtown plans. <br />-9- <br />
