ORDINANCE NO. pig-% AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING SECTION 21-5 OF ARTICLE 1 OF CHAPTER 21 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE TO ADOPT A NEW SET OF ZONING MAPS FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT The purpose of this ordinance is to amend Chapter 21 Zoning, Article 1 . General Provisions, Sec. 21-5 . Adoption of "Book of Maps. " by adopting a new set of maps. The Area Plan Commission of St . Joseph County, Indiana (hereafter, the Commission) heretofore adopted a Comprehensive Plan for South Bend, Indiana, pursuant to which the Zoning Ordinance (hereafter, the Ordinance) was adopted by the Common Council of South Bend, including and incorporating zone maps (hereafter, the Old Maps) . The Old Maps consist of two books of maps: the first being the book of "Zoning District Maps" , which were copies of "Sidwell ' s, Inc. " base maps with the zoning districts outlined with colors and the second being the book of "Height and Area Maps, " made by an "acetate shading pattern and film" process. The Old Maps are more that thirty years old and have become worn out, create maintenance problems, and no longer are satisfactory. The Book of Maps (hereafter, the Book of Maps) to be incorporated into this ordinance will replace the Old Maps. The Book of Maps will be identical in all respects to the Old Maps, but different only in that the Book of Maps are to be computer generated, consist of one Book of Maps, and have both the zoning districts and the height and area districts indicated by letters, or letters and numbers, placed directly on the Book of Maps . The Book of Maps therefore will be easier to maintain. The individual original maps which constitute the Book of Maps are dated April 22, 1996 and have been updated continually since. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AS FOLLOWS:
