PROGRESS REPORTS <br />NEXT COMMISSION MEETING <br />RESCHEDULED TO: JULY 2, <br />1970 <br />a. Negotiator Services, R -66: Mr. Ebel advised <br />that, to date, the Depatment of Redevelopment has <br />title to 37 parcels of land, representing $13*1327,017.00 <br />spent for the purchase of these properties. There are <br />a total of 71 options which have been signed as of this <br />date. When the 71 properties now optioned are purchased, <br />they will represent a total of $2,411,533.00 spent on <br />Department-owned real-estate. Six of these options were <br />secure between the period of June '5th and June 18th. <br />b. Business Relocation: Mr. Harrison Miller ad- <br />vised that within the past two -week period, the staff <br />has concentrated on finding suitable relocation,re- <br />sources for businesses in Phase I: Every project <br />occupant affected by acquisition in Phase I has copies <br />of our resource information pertaining to property. <br />The st ff has intensified their efforts in relocating - :. <br />busine smen by calling each realtor - individually for <br />infor tion on avaiable properties. <br />The specifics of eligibility are being discussed for <br />moving expenses in detail. In order to protect the <br />claimant, staff is asking they seek eligibility informa- <br />tion prior to contracting movers and craftsmen. <br />NEGOTIATOR SERVICES, <br />R -66 <br />BUSINESS RELOCATION, <br />CENTRAL DOWNTOWN URBAN <br />RENEWAL PROJECT, R -66 <br />President Wilhelm asked if there are any real extenuating. . <br />circumstances on someone who'has to move and cannot stay <br />on in the Downtown area? Mr. Miller advised the staff <br />belie es there are opportunities suitable for their needs. <br />Physi al facilities may differ and rents may be higher <br />than vhat they are used to paying .. The staff is Work - <br />ing t retain the people in the Downtown area, along with <br />the C amber of Commerce ... Currently eight -or-ten desir- <br />able spaces are available -- J.M.S. Building, Sherland <br />Building. <br />Mr. E el said the basic objective of this- program is <br />not o ly to keep the merchants here, but to attract <br />new ores. Mr. Wiggins concurred; stating we must do <br />somet ing to generate new customers. - <br />
