Williams Associates /Simonds & <br />Simonds. <br />7) Dalton, Dalton & Little, <br />8) Malo Associates /PACE Associates. <br />The Commission stated that it is gratifying to know <br />that the downtown redevelopment program, in South <br />Bend, is of sufficient interest and has the potential <br />for success necessary to attract talent of this quality. <br />Mr. Wig ins.said this is a compliment to our community <br />and scope of the downtown project. <br />On motion by Mr. Wiggins, a resolution be offered for RESOLUTION NO. 293 <br />the selection of the consultant for professional <br />services in connection with the Downtown Pedestrian <br />Way to be awarded to: Simonds and Simonds, Landscape <br />Architects and Planners, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; <br />Clyde E Williams & Associates, Inc., Planners and <br />Landsca e Architects, South Bend; and; South' Bend Archi- <br />tectura firm of Mathews, Purecker & Associates, will <br />be assisting the joint venture - -all subject to the <br />preparation of a detailed scope of services between <br />the consultant, the staff, and Commiss -i "on Legal-,Coun- <br />sel. S' id motion was seconded by Mr. Chenney'and <br />carried unanimously by all Commissioners.. <br />Mr. Karl L. Ebel stated that Simonds and Simonds is <br />a highly respected, 25 -year old organization; who <br />has won many professional awards in Urban Design; <br />Community Planning and Landscape Architecture. Their <br />previous projects include the East Liberty Shopping <br />Mall and Mellon Square, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; <br />along with successful shopping malls in Pennsylvania, <br />Virginia, and Mississippi. Mr. Phillip Simonds,. <br />Senior Partner, will serve as'project director. He <br />also indicated that the local firms involved in the <br />joint venture are well known in the South Bend "area. <br />Mr. Karl L. Ebel introduced the consultants: <br />Mr. Phillip Simonds, Simonds & Simonds, <br />Pittsburgh, Pa. <br />Mr. Simonds said they would like to express <br />great pleasure in being a part of the joint <br />venture.
