6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont`d <br />Chenne , seconded by Mr. Wiggins, the rehabili- <br />tation grant for Parcel No. 34-18 was unanimously <br />approv d. <br />7. PR GRESS REPORTS <br />a. Downtown Negotiations: Mr. Karl L.-Ebel, DOWNTOWN NEGOTIATIONS, <br />(Acting Executive Director,- - effective March 16, R -66 <br />1970), advised that since our last Commission meet- <br />ing, 813 concurrence in acquisition prices, in the <br />Centra Downtown Urban Renewal Project, R -66, have <br />been received from HUD, in Chicago. These have <br />been processed and turned over to our downtown <br />negotiator, Mr. Hubert M. Weaver and Associates <br />for ac uisition. He stated approximately 25 con - <br />curren es are pending for the downtown area and <br />awaiti g HUD approval. <br />Mr. Wi gins asked if the remaining parcels are <br />scatte ed and Mr. Ebel confirmed that they were <br />and st ted that the options to date total '$846,297. <br />Mrs. J net S. Allen asked hoer many buildings this <br />involy d, as this is a lot of money? Mr. Weaver <br />stated that 25 parcels are involved and that some <br />have more than one building. Mr. Ebel stated that <br />the ac ual number of buildings has not been tabu- <br />lated, but that this can readily be- done -if needed, <br />Mr. He men stated "In reference ` to - condemnation <br />procee ings: if it is obvious that we are not <br />going lo succeed in negotiating, then we should <br />procee with condemnation. <br />Mr. Weaver said that he has been rather careful <br />to keer good will when he and his associates be- <br />lieved the property owners would eventually sign <br />the op ions. Also, when the owners see that we <br />are serious and ready to proceed, they sometimes <br />are more agreeable to signing the options. <br />b. Business Relocation: Mr. Miller advised <br />that informational statements with detailed-progress, <br />to dat and the appraised fib -cure items have been, '.` <br />given to management of franchise and chain business <br />concerns. A total of 107 informational statements <br />has be 'n delivered to site occupants.
