in New Carlisle . Though the architect is . unknown , the house , built <br /> in 1912 , resembles those designed by Ernest Young and Austin '-- <br /> Shambleau in South Bend. 30 The hip roof and wide overhanging <br /> eaves are typical of the style , as is the grey stucco facade . Pink <br /> wood trim , particularly above the foundation , accents the horizon- <br /> tal i ty oft4e st-y4-e-, as do the roof line and the occasional banding <br /> of windows . <br /> A nice example of Stick Style can be found at 130 Chestnut St . <br /> With the exception of the cuppola ( added in 1974) there have been <br /> few changes made on the large , three story structure since it was <br /> constructed in 1887 . The asymmetrical composition is highlighted <br /> by the seemingly functional stick m-e-r-k- or spindle work , especially <br /> along the front veranda and the third floor projecting balconies <br /> on the east and north sides .
