0
REPORTS (Cont'
Miss Carolyn Woolridge, Urban League representative,
apprised they are in the process now of getting the
furnishings together, personnel to staff the Home
Management Center, with the hopes of starting on
October 20th, and possibly will have a more detailed
repor for the next Commission meeting.
Mrs. Guy P. Curtis suggested the Urban League's
Block Unit Program and the Department of Redevelop-
ment's Code Enforcement Program should consider
getting together, as these two "could work together
beautifully." Mr. Bellinger apprised that the
program approach takes full advantage of the Block
Clubs and this is one vehicle to ensure good citi-
zen participation.
e. Unbuildable Lots: Mrs. Curtis brought
up Mrs. Janet Allen's earlier suggestion, in a
previous Commission meeting, on practical uses for
unbui dable lots, such as gardening, cultivation
of lards with plots for raising vegetables, etc.,
and f It this was a good suggestion and should be
lookee into. Mrs. Curtis said this ties in with
the Agricultural Extension Division and asked
"Why rot utilize this under the Purdue Agricultur-
al De artment ?" She also stated this could be an
avenUE for our young people to get into. Mr.
Bellinger stated this is a good suggestion and-the
staff will explore it further. Approximately 30
lots could be utilized that are of fairly good
size dnd unbuildable because of soil conditions-
7.
