Mr. <br />INDIANAPOLIS, IND. <br />Bellinger stated he hoped this meets with the <br />Commission's. approval, as normally authorization <br />. i s. re uested in advance. Upon motion: by : Mr. <br />Helme , seconded by Mr. Chenney., authorization <br />for a tendance of the two::staff:members was•granted. <br />The " yes" were unanimous for- a.ppromal. <br />6. PROGRESS REPORTS <br />a Rehabilitation and - ,Relocation:. The.purchase REHABILITATION AND <br />of a homi at 2622 W. Nap .ie.r:Street, -was authorized. RELOCATION REPORTS <br />by thq Commission at the last.meeting. Mr: Bellinger, <br />appri ed that the staff As. moving with dispatch.on <br />rehab litation and relocation., Mr. Helmen asked...how <br />many ouses have been demolished andhow many to go . <br />in th Industrial Expansion.Project.::Rev. Kirkstated, <br />in thE Industrial Expansion Project, the staff started <br />with E5 families, and,have six to eight families -re- <br />maini g, and all the houses have.been demolished with <br />the a ception of the ones in condemnation. President <br />Wiggi s asked if the staff had any idea as to when <br />this i,ll be .finalized? ;Mr- "Bellinger stated the <br />staff anticipates the sale-of land sometime in June <br />and t e clearance is to be completed.by that time pro- <br />vided the legal work on -,the condemnation has been com- <br />pleted. A few larger families..may be relatively diffi +, <br />cult to house. <br />b. Housing Grant: Area residents oflurban re- HOUSING GRANT <br />newal" projects, who -own and have resided" in their <br />homes a year prior to acquisition,_are eligible to <br />apply for this housing grant -which is an outright, <br />grant - -up to -a - maximum of :$5,OOO, to cover in part <br />the difference between the acquisition price of their <br />property and the cost of standard replacement housing. <br />Mr. Bellinger stated that this. is:.a new program ap- <br />proved by Congress. The eligibility. requirement is <br />that tie individual, or.family, be a. property owner <br />and ow er- occupied. The only other stipulation.is <br />that tie family's housing needs must be based on <br />presen needs and is not based necessarily. on ;what <br />they n w own. In some cases the family will not be <br />eli M)OO a for the total $5,000 grant. For example, <br />if is- received for the sale of their home <br />from t e Department of Redevelopment and the replace- <br />ment h me costs $9,500, the maximum grant would be <br />-6- <br />
