Sheets, President South Bend, Indiana Present: Absent: Mr. Byron W. Sheets, President Mr. Curtis R. Heckaman Mr. Roy B. Root, Vice President Mrs. Josephine M. Curtis, Secretary Also Present: Mrs. Helen S. King, LPA Secretary APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the Regular Annual Meeting of December 2, 1968 were read by the Secretary, Mrs. Josephine M. Curtis, and on motion by Mr. Root, seconded by Mrs. Curtis, the minutes were unanimously approved. III. APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSIONER Mr. Bryon W. Sheets, President, Board of Trustees, said this Spec al Meeting was called for the purpose of appointing a new -com- miss oner to replace Reverend Billy W. Kirk, who has resigned to ac- cept employment with the Redevelopment Department. The meeting was open for nominations. Mr. Sheets stated he had been requested by the Trustees to interview applicants who might be available and willing to accept the responsibility of this position. Mr. Sheets said he has talked with Reverend Willie V. Williams and is quite impressed with his ability. Rev. Williams is.Pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church, located at 313 East Ohio Street, with a congregation of approximately 600. His home address is: 1314 East Miner Street. His age is 47 and he is a taxpayer of the City of South Bend. His background: 13 years with the Chicago Metropolitan Insurance Company, presently.Regional Super - viso ; a member of the Board of Directors of the-- Greafer South Bend, Housing Authority;.and is an active Pastor of the New Hope Baptist Chur , with a large congregation. The only legal requirement for, the p sition as Commissioner is that the individual must be at least 37 years of age and a taxpayer. -1-
