The Urban Renewal Department has been no- <br />tified by HUD that the proposed alley improvements <br />...... ..... <br />in the LaSalle Urban Renewal Project must be sub- <br />mitted for bids. The original plan for installing <br />these improvements was through a Change Order to a <br />current contract. <br />d Acquisition and relocation in the Indus- <br />trail Expansion Project is moving along satisfac- <br />torily. Site improvement work will not begin until <br />the early part of next year. <br />e The Redevelopment staff has met with Mr. <br />Burkhart for the purpose of discussing the sign con- <br />trol ordinance, as it relates to the Downtown Urban <br />Renewa Project, R -66. Mr. Burkhart has raised <br />several questions regarding the sign ordinance, and <br />it is he hope of the staff to report progress in <br />this 4tter at the next regular Commission meeting. <br />f Mrs. Allen asked if the Urban Renewal De- <br />partment had any ideas as to how and when we start <br />in the Model Cities Planning area. Mr. Bellinger <br />suggested Mrs. Allen contact the Area Plan Commis-. <br />sion for information pertaining to the Model Cities <br />Program. <br />g Mrs. Curtis informed the Commission that <br />she hac noticed young boys hanging down from the <br />pedest ian overpass, currently under construction, <br />in the Chapin Street Urban Renewal Project, R -29. <br />She stated that she was concerned both for the <br />safety of the boys and the dangerous situation that <br />would occur if youngsters throw missiles, from the <br />overpa s onto moving traffic. <br />Chairman Wiggins stated that the bridge is not com- <br />pleted and that aluminum -mesh screen will be in- <br />stalle throughout the length of the bridge.
