d. <br />Mr. Barbe informed the Commission that a fire had damaged <br />FIRE DAMAGED <br />Parcel 3 <br />-4, 208 Iowa Street, in the LaSalle Park Project in the <br />PARCEL 39 -4 IN <br />approximate <br />sum of $300 to $400. This parcel is under option. He <br />LASALLE PARK <br />also pointed <br />out that the owner's fire insurance had been cancelled, <br />APPROVED FOR <br />and that <br />the property was being purchased for clearance. After <br />CLOSING <br />discussion <br />the Commission determined that since the premises were <br />vacant, that <br />there was no insurance in effect, and that the <br />property <br />was going to be demolished, the full offering price be <br />paid to the <br />owners. The Commission approved the payment of $2,835, <br />less expenses <br />to the owners, Oather and Mandie Alford, upon <br />delivery <br />of thrir warranty deed. The motion was made by Mr. Kompar, <br />seconded <br />by Mr: Koczan. <br />e. <br />he Commission voted to approve the staff recommendation <br />INVESTMENT OF <br />that a t <br />tal of $798.525.77 from LaSalle Park Project Funds be <br />FUNDS IN U. S. <br />invested <br />in U. S. Treasury Bills as follows: $418,000 for nine <br />TREASURY BILLS <br />months, 205,000 for six months, $152,000 for three months and <br />$50,000 or 30 days. Motion was made by Mr. Louis, and seconded <br />by Mr. K czan. <br />f. With legal counsel recommendation, the Commission adopted RESOLUTION 153 <br />Resolution 153 which authorizes the filing of a condemnation suit FOR LASALLE, R -57 <br />for 21 County owned properties in the LaSalle Park Project. Mr. <br />Kompar made the motion, seconded by Mr. Koczan. This action is the <br />only procedure the Redevelopment Commission can follow to obtain <br />clear title for these properties. <br />7. <br />a. Tie staff is preparing now for closing out the Sample Street MAJOR COMPLETION <br />P dject, -7.' In connection with this, a major completion grant GRANT REQUEST <br />request 13 being submitted to the Chicago DHUD office, and upon DHUD SUBMISSION TO <br />approval, a formal request for final audit will be submitted. The DHUD <br />major com letion grant merely certifies that 95% of all the work <br />items havB been completed and the federal government is to pay the <br />South Beni Redevelopment Department 95% of the federal grant. The <br />additiona 5% federal grant is due us upon closing out the Sample <br />Street Pr ject. The money will be used to pay off the 2/3 portion of <br />the net c st of the project which is now outstanding as a loan and <br />thus draw'nQ interest. <br />b. Tie Mayor's Advisory Committee on Community Improvement met MAYOR'S ADVISORY <br />this morning, November 17, 1966.
