3. <br />e <br />Hanson Engineering Company contract for purchase is HANSON <br />erally approved with details to be worked out for an CONTRACT <br />ly closing. APPROVED, <br />R -7. <br />4. A4other contact will be made with Indiana Bell. <br />Mr. Chong suggested that the Chicago URA office be contacted with POSSIBLE <br />respect to a reappraisal of all lands remaining to be sold in REAPPRAISAL <br />Project R-7. This step was recommended by the SIR group and met OF R -7. <br />with the approval of the Commission. <br />Mrs. Curt s inquired about the delay in disposing lands in the <br />project. Mr. Wiggins replied that more projessional help might <br />be needed in selling the land and that, with new improvements <br />completed the community would find it easier to dispose of the <br />remaining land. It was also reported that, with the reappraisal <br />to reflect prices varying with the locations, disposition can <br />be speeded up. Mr. Wiggins emphasized that the primary purpose <br />of the Smiple Street Project development is a conversion of the <br />,land into valuable assets to the community. <br />_6. NEW B <br />After a d scussion of the R -29 Project Expenditure Account Fund, <br />it was mo ed,by Mr. Kompar, seconded by Mr. Koezan, and passed <br />by the Commission to invest $70,000 in U. S. Treasury Bills <br />with maturity in 60 days. <br />On the mo ion of Mr. Kompar, seconded by Mr. Koczan, the <br />Commissio approved the engagement of B. Gene Skeldon as the <br />secretary of the Redevelopment Department. <br />7. PROGRESS REPORTS <br />Sam 1c Street Project, R -7. Change Orders 5, 6, and 7 <br />involving improvement to Kerr and Catalpa Streets and construc- <br />tion of tree left turn lanes have been approved by the <br />Chicago URA office and Contractor, Rieth- Riley, has already <br />been info ed to proceed with the improvement as soon as possible. <br />ChapiL Street Project, R -29. The demolition and site clear- <br />ance contract with Rieth -Riley expires August 3, 1965. Two <br />properties, the Falcon Club and the Rosenbaum complex might not <br />be acquired and vacated in time for inclusion in the existing <br />contract. <br />LaSalle Park Project, R -57. Contract services are proceeding <br />favorably. After a field inspection trip on the site and a <br />discussion in Chicago, it appears that approximately 25% of the <br />improved parcels in the project will be recommended for acquisi- <br />tion. The next step is to prepare more detailed studies of <br />buildings proposed for rehabilitation, studies to involve FHA <br />-4- <br />DISCUSSION <br />OF BEST <br />POSSIBILITIES <br />FOR SALE OF <br />LAND. <br />PURCHASE <br />$70,000 IN <br />US TREASURY <br />BILLS, R -29. <br />NEW <br />SECRETARY <br />FOR REDEVEL- <br />OPMENT DEPT. <br />
