IV. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 43 OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, DEPARTMENT OF <br />ELOPMENT AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR LOAN <br />AND gRANT FOR CHAPIN STREET PROJECT NO. INDIANA R -29. <br />Mr, Sucher reported to the Commission that Part I of the Loan & <br />Grant Application for Chapin Street Project Indiana R -29, which <br />sets forth in detail all plans for the area, was completed. Upon <br />review by the Commission, and motion duly made by Mr. Williams, <br />seconded by Mr. Helmen, and unanimously carried, the following <br />reso ution was adopted: <br />WHEREAS it is necessary and in the public interest that the <br />City of South Bend; Department of Redevelopment avail itself of <br />the ±inancial assistance provided by Title I of the Housing Act <br />of 1949, as amended, to carry out the urban renewal project <br />desc ibed as Chapin Street, Indiana R -29 and bounded generally <br />by W stern Avenue, Scott Street, New York Central Main Line, and <br />Laur 1 Street, hereinafter referred to as the "Project "; and <br />WHEREAS it is recognized that the Federal contract for such <br />financial assistance pursuant to said Title I will impose certain <br />obligations and responsibilities upon the`Local Public Agency and <br />will require among other things: (1) the provision of local grants - <br />in -aid; (2) a feasible method for the relocation of families dis- <br />placed from the project area; and (3) other local obligations and <br />responsibilities in connection with the undertaking and carrying <br />out of urban renewal projects: <br />OW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT, <br />that an Application on behalf of the City of South Bend, Department <br />of Redevelopment for a loan under Section 102(a) of -said Title I in <br />the amount of $1,428,086 and for a Project Capital Grant and a <br />Relocation Grant to the full amount available for undertaking and <br />financing the Project is hereby approved,.. and -that the- President <br />is hereby,-authorized and directed to :execute and to -'file -such <br />Application with the Housing and.Home.Finance Agency, and toy <br />provide <br />such additional information and.to_•furnish:such documents as may be <br />required in behalf of said Agency, and to act as the authorized <br />correspondent of the City of South Bend, Department of Redevelopment. <br />-3- <br />
