Task 2 — Preliminary Design <br />In coordination with the topographic survey and the preliminary options presented, the <br />preliminary design of the area will be completed. Utilizing the basic concepts of improving the <br />overall drainage for the area, the best solutions will be sought. A preliminary design in CAD <br />will be developed. City has 1 week review time. <br />Completion: October 23, 2019 <br />Task 3 — Preliminary Cost Estimate <br />Based upon the preliminary design a probable cost of construction will be developed using <br />current estimating methods and figures of the latest construction activities in the South Bend <br />community. Estimated easements acquisition costs will be included in the preliminary estimate. <br />Completion: October 23, 2019 <br />Task 4 — Draft Report/Estimate Review <br />A brief report of the project with its design, impacts, and cost estimate components will be <br />developed for review by Owner. Completion: October 23, 2019 <br />Task 5 — Final Design <br />After review and confirmation from the Owner, the Engineer will complete the design and <br />specification as needed based upon comments received by Owner. If other solutions or <br />significant changes to the drainage design are directed to be completed instead of the preliminary <br />design, the final design change will not include a "step back" to the preliminary design stage <br />task, for this. Utility coordination will also be performed with any impacted known utility. <br />DHA will provide hard copies of final design plans and specifications as needed. Plans to be <br />11xl7 size. Completion: November 8, 2019 <br />Task 6 — Final Cost Estimate <br />Once a final design and specifications have been completed, the Engineer will provide the <br />Owner with the Final probable cost of construction estimate. Estimate will be based upon a <br />construction sequence commencing, and being completed, in 2020. <br />Completion: November 8, 2019 <br />Task 7 — Client Review/Bid Package <br />Owner will be provided with construction drawings, specification, and cost estimate ready for <br />securing a contractor through the Owner and its' method bidding process the drainage project <br />area, and determine whether to proceed with a bidding process. <br />Completion: November 22, 2019 <br />Task 8 — Easements <br />Engineer shall coordinate and prepare easements for recording purposes any and all dedication of <br />easements purchases, if required. Due to the unknown nature of the scope of easement <br />acquisition required for the final design, services for preparation, appraisal(s), acquisition, and <br />recording are not included in the contract. Completion: March 6, 2020 <br />
