IV. RESOLUTION NO. 35 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Place, seconded by Mr. Williams, and unani- <br />mously carried, the Commission passed the following resolution: <br />In order to expedite land acquisition and project execution, <br />tenants who have failed to pay their rental may be evicted. <br />Such eviction shall not be earlier than 30 days after the <br />rent due date. Evictions shall be preceded by the sending <br />of such notices as.are required -by the-laws of the.State of <br />Indiana. Counsel for the Commission is hereby authorized to <br />take necessary steps to evict tenants failing to pay rent, <br />and, if necessary, to institute suit for the possession of <br />the premises and the collection of back rental, all subject <br />to the provisions of this resolution. Action on hardship <br />cases is to be commenced only with the specific approval <br />of the Commission. <br />V. FEASIBILITY STUDY - SOUTH BEND CENTRAL AREA <br />Mr Iewis Haber reported that upon consulting with Mr. Herod, <br />Director of _Chicago Urban Renewal Administration,. he was-:informed <br />by Mr. Herod that an urban .renewal feasibility . study .for _the <br />city's central area could save.months,when the-time, comes to work <br />out comprehensive planning program for the district. <br />Mr. Sucher stated that to date he has received no estimates from <br />the three firms,who were contacted-to submit -bids for this programs <br />Cand ub, Fleissig & Associates, Newark, N. J.,, Victor Gruen <br />Associates, Beverly Hills, California] and Blair Associates, <br />Providence, R. I. As soon.as.an answer is received from the <br />�three firms, the Commission will take action:, <br />VI. PROGRESS REPORT <br />Mrs.. Josephine Curtis, Member of Relocation-Committee, = -Relocation <br />Mino ity Problems Committee and Urban.-Redevelopment, -. -& Minority <br />Trustee, submitted a report on families left-for re- Housina <br />location. Of thirty --five families, eight families <br />represented-problems: They consist of either minority <br />grou s, large families; or families.with poor house <br />keeping standards._ Members of the Relocation Committee <br />have taken it,upon themselves to donate paint;. rollers;: <br />and upplies needed .to teach and: -acquaint these ; families _ , - <br />with good housekeeping methods.
