On mot: <br />carries <br />Commis <br />on made by Mr. Koczan, seconded by Mr._Williams, and "unanimously <br />claims for payment totaling $37,340.18 were endorsed by the <br />ion. <br />IV. PROGRESS REPORT <br />Mrs. Josephine Curtis, Trustee of Urban Renewal and Relocation <br />Commissioner of the Public Housing Authority, reported Housing <br />to the Commission that July 13, 1961, at a meeting with Problems <br />FHA officials in Indianapolis, she was given assurance <br />that 16 homes owned by FHA in the LaSalle Park Area, now <br />boarded up and unused, and acquired through foreclosure, <br />would be made available for rental purposes to families <br />who are unable to purchase new homes and their relocation <br />in ren al property is critical. <br />Mr. Walter Kendall, Property Manager for FHA from Indian- <br />apolis, reported that due to a new directive received by <br />Mr. Kendall the 19th of June, these homes.were unavailable <br />for rental but that FHA would be willing to sell them at a <br />reduceq price to a non- profit organization. <br />It was decided to send a wire to Representative John Brademas <br />to ask for assistance in this situation, and also a meeting <br />of the Relocation Committee be called for Friday, July 21, <br />at the Redevelopment Department Office to make further plans <br />to solvle the problem. <br />Upon proper consideration, the Commission, on motion made Re -Use <br />by Mr. Koczan, seconded by Mr. Williams, and unanimously Appraiser- <br />carried, approved the appointment of Mr. John G. Pence as Chapin St. <br />Re -Use Appraiser in the Chapin Street Renewal Project. <br />Maximum cost will be $1,500. <br />Mr. Su er reported to the Commission that Mr. James Resignation <br />Neidig submitted his resignation as Assistant Director' by Assistant <br />as of ugust 4, 1961. Director <br />Upon me <br />and unz <br />request <br />his of <br />=ion made by Mr. Koczan, seconded by Mr. Williams, Office <br />Amously carried, the Commission approved Mr. Sucher's Lighting <br />that a fluorescent lighting system be installed "in <br />ice at an estimated cost of $80 to $120. <br />-3- <br />
