PROGRESS REPORT Mrs. Josephine Curtis, Trustee of Urban Renewal and Relocation Commissioner of the Public Housing Authority, reported Housing to the Commission that July 13, 1961, at a meeting with Problems FHA officials in Indianapolis, she was given assurance that 16 homes owned by FHA in the LaSalle Park Area, now boarded up and unused, and acquired through foreclosure, would be made available for rental purposes to families who are unable to purchase new homes and their relocation in ren al property is critical. Mr. Walter Kendall, Property Manager for FHA from Indian- apolis, reported that due to a new directive received by Mr. Kendall the 19th of June, these homes.were unavailable for rental but that FHA would be willing to sell them at a reduceq price to a non- profit organization. It was decided to send a wire to Representative John Brademas to ask for assistance in this situation, and also a meeting of the Relocation Committee be called for Friday, July 21, at the Redevelopment Department Office to make further plans to solvle the problem. Upon proper consideration, the Commission, on motion made Re -Use by Mr. Koczan, seconded by Mr. Williams, and unanimously Appraiser- carried, approved the appointment of Mr. John G. Pence as Chapin St. Re -Use Appraiser in the Chapin Street Renewal Project. Maximum cost will be $1,500.
