On motion made by Mr. Helmen, seconded by Mr. Williams, and unani- <br />mously carried, the claims for payment and transfer totaling <br />$206.075.12 were endorsed by the Commission. <br />IV. ROGRESS REPOR'. <br />The Commission was informed by Mr. Sucher that there have <br />been a total of 86 acquisition closings, 50 homes vacated, <br />65 under option, total 151, in the Sample Street Redevelop <br />-ment Area - Project No. Indiana R -7. <br />Mr. S cher reported to the Commission that ten (10) sets Demolition <br />of De olition Contracts have been sent out. The opening Contracts <br />of the bids will be March 16, 1961 at 11 o'clock and we <br />will ave thirty (30) days in which to award the contract. <br />A resolution signed by Mr. Zilford Carter, Chairman of Linden.Area <br />the Linden Area Neighborhood Association was read by Neighbor- <br />Mr. Sucher. The resolution is based on the misconcep- hood Assn. <br />tion that 180 acres of land will be cleared. The <br />actua plan is to clear fifty (50) acres or less. <br />A proposal by Mr. Bullard and Mr. Weaver was made to LaSalle <br />the Commission that since there appeared to be oppo- Park <br />sitior to the Linden School Area Project, priority be Site <br />changed to the LaSalle Park (Beck's Lake) area. This <br />site involves up to 160 acres. At the present time <br />there are between 100 and 150 vacant lots. Rehabili- <br />tation could start quickly since relocation is not a <br />major problem. They stated that items in favor of this <br />proje t are: a new park; paving of Western Avenue; the <br />peopl want help; and relocation is no major problem. <br />The C fission took no action on this. <br />Report was made by Mrs. Niebauer that the Housing <br />Authority is to -meet 12:30 noon, March 1, 1961 at the <br />Indiana Club at which time approval will be asked for <br />a site on J.D.
