Y <br />Michigan City Area Schools <br />After a guaranteed energy savings project was recently implemented, <br />Michigan City Area Schools was looking to further reduce their energy <br />costs using solar power and LED lighting upgrades. The District selected <br />Performance Services to implement a second guaranteed energy savings <br />project that will reduce overall electricity consumption at seven buildings by <br />52 percent, saving the District $704,672 annually. Ground -mounted solar <br />arrays and LED lighting were installed at seven school buildings including <br />three elementary schools, two middle schools, Michigan City High School <br />and the administration building. <br />Solar Highlights <br />• Seven ground -mount solar arrays <br />• 2.83 megawatts (total arrays) <br />• 3,628,000 kWh energy to grid <br />2018 Governor's Award <br />Michigan City Area Schools received a 2018 <br />Governor's <br />Award for <br />Environmental Excellence in the Renewable Energy <br />Category by <br />the <br />Indiana <br />Department of Environmental Management (IDEM). The Solar and <br />LED <br />project <br />is the largest for any school district in Indiana and <br />the Midwest to date.
