BOWEN SAFETY POLICY MANUAL <br />b. All post -accident alcohol tests shall be completed within two (2) <br />hours to eight (8) hours or sooner following an accident. <br />C. All post -accident drug tests shall be completed within twenty-four <br />(24) to thirty-two (32) hours or sooner following an accident. <br />d. DOT covered employees will be subject to a DOT drug and alcohol <br />testing if the accident involves <br />A fatality or <br />ii. The employee receiving a citation under state or local law <br />for a moving violation arising from the accident and either: <br />a. There is bodily injury to a person which requires <br />medical treatment away from the scene of the <br />accident or <br />b. One or more vehicles incur disabling damage as a <br />result of the accident and must be towed from the <br />accident scene. <br />DOT covered employees will be removed from duty until a <br />negative drug and alcohol result is verified. <br />Reference Section 3.3.D for Disciplinary Procedures <br />8. DOT - The folilowing shall be considered "prohibited conduct" s ecificall <br />for DOT covered em to ees: <br />a. No employee shall report for duty or remain on duty requiring the <br />performance of safety -sensitive functions while having an <br />alcoholic concentration of .04 or greater. <br />b. No employee shall be on duty or operate a commercial vehicle <br />while the employee possesses alcohol. <br />C. No employee shall use alcohol while performing safety -sensitive <br />functions. <br />d. No employee shall perform safety -sensitive functions within four <br />(4) hours after using alcohol. <br />e. No employee required to take a post -accident test shall use alcohol <br />for eight (8) hours following the accident or until he or she <br />undergoes a post -accident test, whichever occurs first. <br />f, No employee shall refuse to submit to a post -accident, random, <br />reasonable suspicion, return -to -duty, or follow-up alcohol or drug <br />test. <br />Last Revised: May 2016 Section 3 Page 8 <br />
