RE <br />VE <br />L <br />)LUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND DEPARTMENT OF REDE- <br />:)PMENT AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR LOAN <br />GRANT FOR PROJECT NO. IND. R -57 <br />WHEREAS it is necessary and in the public interest that the City of South Bend Depart- <br />ment of Redevelopment avail itself of the financial assistance provided by Title I of the <br />Housing Act of 1949, as amended, to carry out the urban renewal project described <br />as LaSalle Park Project No. 1, and bounded generally as follows: <br />Beginning at the point of intersection of the north right -of -way line <br />of L Lnden Avenue and a line which is an extension of the west right -of- <br />way line of the alley between and parallel to Sheridan Avenue and Chi- <br />cago Street; proceed east along the north right -of -way line of Linden <br />Avenue to a point 129.0 feet, more or less, east of the east right -of- <br />way line of Falcon Street; thence south along a line which is 129.0 f eet, <br />more or less, east of and parallel to the east right -of -way line of Falcon <br />Street, a distance of 388.3 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in <br />a wE sterly direction a distance of 129.0 feet, more or less, to the east <br />righ -of -way line of Falcon Street; thence south along said right -of -way <br />line a distance of 485.7 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in an <br />east Brly direction a distance of 129.0 feet, more or less, to the west <br />righ -of -way line of the alley between and parallel to Falcon Street and <br />Lake Street; thence south along said alley right -of -way line a distance <br />of 11.6. 0 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in an easterly direc- <br />tion a distance of 203.0 feet, more or less, to the east right -of -way <br />line of Lake Street; thence south along said right -of -way line a distance <br />of 51). 0 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in an easterly direc- <br />tion a distance of 793.0 feet, more or less, to the west right -of -way <br />line of the alley between and parallel to Kentucky Street and Dundee <br />Street; thence south along said alley right -of -way line a distance of <br />250.0 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in an easterly direction <br />aloe a line north of and parallel to the north right -of -way line of <br />Was iington Street, to the west right -of -way line of the alley west of <br />and arallel to Kaley Street; thence north along said alley right -of -way <br />line to the south ,right -of -way line of the New York Central Railroad; <br />thence southeasterly along said right -of -way line to the east right -of -way <br />line of the first alley east of and parallel to Meade Street; thence south <br />along said alley right -of -way line to the center line of the first alley <br />north of and parallel to Western Avenue; thence west along said alley <br />cent gr line to the west right -of -way line of the alley between and parallel <br />to Sheridan Avenue and Chicago Street; thence north along said alley <br />rig -of -way line to the north right -of -way line of Linden Avenue which <br />is the place of beginning, <br />hereinafter referred to as the "Project "; and <br />WHEREAS it is recognized that the Federal contract for such financial assistance <br />pursuant to said Title I will impose certain obligations and responsibilities upon the <br />Local Public Agency and will require among other things (1) the provision of local <br />grants-in-aid; (2) a feasible method for the relocation of individuals and families dis- <br />placed fro the project area; and (3) other local obligations and responsibilities in <br />connectio with the undertaking and carrying out of urban renewal projects; and <br />WHEREAE Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the regulations of the Housing <br />and Home Finance Agency effectuating that Title, provide that no person shall, on <br />the groun of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be <br />denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in the undertaking and carrying <br />out of the urban renewal projects assisted under Title I of the Housing Act of 1949, <br />as <br />and <br />Exhibit A, Page 1 <br />R 231 <br />
