3. The drawings are schematic in nature. <br />4. The CONTRACTOR is responsible for estimating dimensions and quantities of materials. <br />5. In the event that the Special Provisions and the Plans conflict, the Special Provisions shall <br />govern. <br />XXIII. SAFETY AND SITE SECURITY <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: None <br />B. Additions: <br />1. The Contractor and all Sub -Contractors and their personnel on site shall maintain safe <br />working conditions according to their company safety plan and policies. <br />2. The Contractor shall describe the safety plan actions to the Engineer for the site. The safety <br />plan shall include Maintenance of Traffic Plan which describes the method of protecting <br />the vehicles and pedestrians in the public right-of-way. <br />3. Safety and Site Security will not be paid for directly but will be included in the cost of other <br />items. <br />XXIV. DEBRIS REMOVAL <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: None <br />B. Additions: <br />1. The contractor shall use best management practices to minimize exposure to lead based <br />paint dust and debris generated during the debris removal. The contractor should use <br />water sprinkling, temporary enclosures, and other suitable methods to contain dust inside <br />the work area and limit the amount of dust rising and scattering into the air. The contractor <br />should limit the use of water when it may create hazardous or objectionable conditions <br />such as ice, flooding and pollution. <br />2. The Contractor shall not draw water from h drants near the site. <br />3. All demolition debris, rubbish, and all other material removed from the site as part of the <br />work shall be transported in a lawful manner to landfill(s) or other disposal facilities licensed <br />to receive such material. The Contractor shall inform the City in writing of the identity of <br />those facilities, the nature of materials disposed there, and a statement from the facility <br />that it is licensed to receive such material prior to any work starting on site. Trucks leaving <br />the work area shall be adequately covered, protected, and secured to prevent debris from <br />spilling or blowing from the trucks during transport. <br />4. Lead based paint and asbestos may exist within the debris. The Contractor shall be <br />required to follow all federal, state and local requirements when handling and disposing of <br />lead based paint and asbestos debris. <br />a. Perform daily on -site PCM air monitoring services during normal work activities. <br />b. Written results of all air samples taken for the duration of the project will be submitted <br />to the owner upon completion of the project. <br />Version 8/16/2018 Special Provisions - 9 <br />
