4 Pig Board met in regular hearing at 7:45 P.M. All members present. Hearing given on Vacation Resolution No. 15 for the vacation of an alley in the Nickel' a Addition.. A remonstrance was filed and the Board after due consideration deferred the; hearing until Tuesday May the 7th. at 10:00 A.M. ,,,-Hearing given on Condemnation No. 14 for the opening of the south end of Sherman Avenue Remmenstrat ors appeared and the Board after due consideration deferred all action until sue aday May the 7t h. 1912 at 10: 00 A.M. _,�!n the matter of the Twenty Five .Hundred Dollar& ($2500.00) Dollars withheld from C.H. Petition, received and read and placed on file asking the Board.. to appropriate 7 feet off of t he we at side of Ro ek st roli & Ni cke 1' s Addition to the City of South Bend, Indiana to extend fromMichigan Avenue south to the Fsi. east and west alley for the purpose of an opening for an alley. Engineer filed assessrient roil and final estimate for Pipe Sewer on Fellows Street from L.S.& M. S.. Ry. to Brsadway,lffnder Immprovement Resolutie n No. 94. Reselved,that notices as to the amounts of assessments be published for six consecutive days in the South Bead Daily Times, commencing on the April the 29th;..19129 stating that this Board will give a hearing on the amount of such assessments at its office in the City Hall on the 24th. day of May 1912 at 7:45 P.M.-, Resolved further, that tree entire work under the above contracts be acc;pt, d -nd approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. Board of Public Works of the . City of South Bend, Indiana. Gent lemen: - In regard to the petitions from brick a,nd, asphalt pavements of North Lafayette Street from Navarre Street to Foote Strr et. I find there are 12 resident freeholders on the street. . Five of them,Nellie G.Paxpon,Daniel Poehlman.,George Sindlinger, M.E.Crane and Edward Galles have-. signed for brick and five, John Klein.di.nst,Anna M.Beck,N.C.Stuck. Lula B. Wiley and Thomas Staudt have signed for asphalt. Two resident property holders, Stephen F.Brown and Huldad Ann Dinnerboiler haven't signed either petition. Air. John C..Paxsen who signed the brick petition nnd. G.E. Vehlert who signed the asphalt petition are not resident freeholders. 0_ I therefore find that the brick petition does not constitute a majority of the resident freeholders aad recommend that the contract be awarded to the 'WESTERN C )NSTRUCTION COMPANY, the lowest and., -best bidders, for asphalt.
