Board met in adjourned meetixg from April 24ih at 10:00 A.M. All members present. Hearing giv, en on Niles Avenue Grade,Curb and walk,Under Improvement Resolution #139. In the abo're matter a remenst ranee was filed. THEREFORE,be it resolved by The Board of Public Works o'f the City of South Bend, Indiana that the above numbered Improvement Resolution be modified to 'road as' iolloWs:- By grading theroadw-y from Curb line to Curb line and constructing cement walks on East side an said Niles Avenue from' Howard Street to St. Vincent St reet , also constructing cement curb an both sides on Niles Avenue from Howard Street to St. Vincent St reet q THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVET), That the Board find in each and every case in said improvemerYt s t'hat th the benefits to the property, and to the City of South Bend are equal, to the estim- ated cost of said improvements and the same are in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Be it resolved that notices be published in the South Bend Daily Times on the 29 th day of Xpril 1912 and on the 6th. day of May 1912 to the effect that this Board, will receive bids for the construction of said improvements up to 10:00 A.M. on the 14th. day of May 1912, The'Board' reserves the right to reject any and all bids. To the Hon. Board of Public Works. of the City of South Bend,Indiana. Gent lemen: - I respectfully report that I have tabulated: the bids submitted on the 1011 day of April 1912 for the paving,and Grade Curb and walk on No. Lafayette Street and find that THE WESTERN CONSTRUCTION COMPANY is the lowest and beat bidder upon TRININ TRINIDAD LAKE ASPHALT laid. upon a Concrete Foundation. I therefore recommend that _ they, be awarded the contract. Respect fully, WK. S. MOORE City Engineer. J Permission was grantitd the. Central Union Telephone Company to set poles and anchors as follows: - One pole aid one small anchor on the west side of Studebaker Court bet- ween Blayne and Division Street. Approved. One pole and one anchor in the alley between Lafayette and Franklin Sts. south of Tutt St. Approved. Forty feet from other poles in same alley. FINAL RESOLUTION DESIGNATING KIND OF PAVEI IT TO BE LAID. WHEREAS, The Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana, did on the 12th. day of April 1912 enter a preliminary order designating Trinidad Lake. Asphalt laid on a five inch Concrete foundation, and awarded the contract to THE VIESTERN CONSTRUCTION COMPANY they being the lowest and best bidders upon Trinidad Lake Asphalt,the same to be laid. on. North Lafayette Street from Navarre St. to Foote. Street. WHEREAS ,tie petition has been filed by a majority of the number of resident freeholders, requesting that the said street be improved with another kind og pavement. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the preliminary order is hereby confirmed. and the aforesaid street. is hereby ordered paved with Trinidad Lake Asphalt. Remonstrators appeared and the Board deferred all action until April the 30th. at 10:00 A.M. v/He ari ng on .the Grade on the 1st. alley East of High:_ from Milton to Dayton Street Under Improvement Resolution No. 140.
