Office of Diversity and Inclusion <br /> Divisions of South Bend/SJC Human Rights Commission and Diversity and Inclusion <br /> 2018 Annual Report <br /> • Collected and configured 3 years of contract data from City Naviline database, Board of Public <br /> Works records, Public Works projects and budgets data, resulting in over 400 contracts over <br /> $50,000 for study consultant Colette Holt and Associates. <br /> • Hosted internal stakeholder kick off meeting. <br /> • Hosted community stakeholder kick off meeting. <br /> • Hosted 2 Business Owner Interviews. <br /> • Managed City of South Bend Disparity Study website inquiry responses. <br /> o Implemented race and gender neutral measures in City procurement and contracting through Inclusive <br /> Procurement Model. <br /> • Highlighting new MBE, WBE, MWBE, VBE small local businesses internally with City buyers and <br /> Public Works Engineering team. <br /> • Tracking new MBE, WBE.VBE, etc. by electronic form. <br /> o Reestablished relationship with South Bend Housing Authority to capture Section 3 Workforce data by <br /> resident skills, education, and competencies for exposure to work opportunities with City projects and <br /> local organizations seeking local employees. <br /> o Capturing departmental and contracting project spend amounts for shareable Annual Forecast Report <br /> that can be utilized by local small MBE,WBE, MWBE's to proactively prepare for upcoming procurement <br /> and construction/contracting opportunities. <br /> o Conducted focus groups for community feedback to make recommendations for designing a South Bend <br /> Metro Inclusive Talent Network talent database to connect ethnically diverse high talent candidates to <br /> local career opportunities by industry, skill, and competency. <br /> o Partnered with Department of Community Investment's Engagement and Economic Empowerment Team <br /> to fund and support Small local MBE,WBE Westside Small Business Resource Center. <br /> o Partnered with Department of Community Investment Engagement and Economic Empowerment Team, <br /> NNN Neighborhood Association to write and win Community WINS grant through PNC Bank and National <br /> League of Cities to support the development of small local MBE,WBE, MWBE businesses ready to do <br /> business with the City. <br /> o Partnered with Department of Community Investment Engagement and Economic Empowerment Team, <br /> Goodwill Industries to write YOUTHBUILD grant to support youth workforce development while solving a <br /> housing repair challenge in the City of South Bend. <br /> 3 <br />
