Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities, University of Notre Dame
And
PARTNER
Internship Placement Agreement
This Internship Placement Agreement (the "Agreement") is entered into by the Wilson Sheehan Lab for
Economic Opportunities ("LEO"), University of Notre Dame, and the PARTNER ("Partner Agency"), for
the purpose of outlining the joint and separate responsibilities between LEO and the Partner as they relate
to providing internship work experiences for an undergraduate LEO employee (the "student").
I. Purpose
The purpose of this agreement is to outline a mutually beneficial internship placement arrangement
between the parties. The internship placement will provide the Partner Agency with a valuable resource
to increase its capacity to engage in evidence -building activities, while also providing the student with a
valuable internship experience. The Parties agree to the specific commitments outlined below.
II. Goals for the Internship Placement
a. Facilitate the development of or contribute towards the ongoing implementation of an active
LEO Project at the Partner Agency;
b. Increase the Partner Agency's capacity to engage in evidence -building activities; and
c. Provide the student with a valuable internship experience working with an innovative social
service agency that is a partner of LEO.
III. LEO agrees to:
a. Identify, interview and hire qualified undergraduate candidates for the internship position.
b. Provide the agency, prior to placement, relevant information about the student's academic
achievement and previous work experience.
c. Provide initial training and orientation to the student related to LEO's work, statistical
software, human subjects research protocols and other materials prior to the student working
on site with the Partner.
d. Work with the Partner to identify specific tasks, within the larger scope of a LEO project or
capacity -building activity, for the student to complete during the summer.
i. This will include participating in at least one introductory planning call with the staff
person who will act as a supervisor/mentor for the student (the "Partner Agency
Supervisor") prior to the beginning of the placement period.
e. Provide an intern supervisor at LEO who will check -in at least weekly with both the student
and the student's supervisor at the Partner Agency throughout the placement period.
IV. PARTNER agrees to:
a. Identify a Partner Agency Supervisor who will act as the supervisor/mentor for the student.
The Partner Agency Supervisor will also act as the lead contact between the Partner and LEO
on all matters related to the internship placement. This person should be working in some
capacity on an active LEO project or capacity -building activity, and should have capacity to
meet with the student once per week to check -in on student's work.
