MICHELS CORPORATION - STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS
each treated with the utmost importance.
6.2 Safety
6.2.1 Safety Policy and Philosophy
Michels Corporation is fully committed to the health and safety of its employees and anyone on
its jobsites, which is why safety is incorporated into our first core value: We take pride in our
reputation for quality work performed safely and with care for our environment.
Safety awareness and training is driven from the top down by executive management who play
an active role in fostering a culture that puts a premium on safe operations. At Michels, we view
safety as a "Journey to Zero" incidents. Our primary goals are:
• No injuries to people
• No damage to property
• No harm to the environment
6.2.2 Safety Department
The Michels Corporation Health and Safety Department includes a staff of more than 150
individuals managed by two health and safety directors, Ralph Miller (rrnill r(&micl1els.us) and
Nate Healy (nheal drnichels.us). The Health and Safety Department is responsible for
administering the corporate safety program and staffing our projects with site safety
coordinators who perform random and regularly scheduled safety audits. These safety
coordinators also work with our field leadership and client representatives to ensure that our
projects are run safely and in full compliance with contractual requirements and any applicable
laws and regulations. To maintain operational integrity, the Health and Safety Department
reports independently to the chief legal officer rather than divisional management.
6.2.3 Safety Program
Michels Corporation maintains a robust Health and Safety Program covering all of our diverse
operations and job hazards. This program is revised and reissued at least once per year. Please
see the program index attached as Exhibit J for a general overview of its contents. To view the
full version, please contact Noelle Valuch, Qualification Coordinator, at 920.924.4300 x7697 or
nvaluch@michels.us.
To address location- and project -specific safety concerns, Michels utilizes two primary
derivatives of the Health and Safety Program: the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) and Job
Safety Analysis (JSA), which together appropriately focus on the specific risks and hazards
associated with the scope of work to be performed.
28
