SpIITH lit
W\\PEACE` y
X A R
1865 ,
OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK
KAREEMAH FOWLER, CITY CLERK
RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS FEBRUARY 25, 2019 3:37 P.M.
(ORGANIZATIONAL)
Committee Members Present: Karen White, Jo M. Broden, Sharon L. McBride
Committee Members Absent: Regina Williams-Preston
Other Council Present: John Voorde, Tim Scott, Gavin Ferlic, Jake Teshka
Other Council Absent: Oliver Davis
Others Present: Kareemah Fowler, Graham Sparks, Bob Palmer
Agenda: Organizational Meeting
Committee Chair Karen White called to order the Organizational Meeting of the Residential
Neighborhoods Committee at 3:37 p.m. She introduced members of the Committee and proceeded
with the meeting.
Organizational Meeting
Committee Chair White handed out copies of the 2018 Annual Report of the Residential
Neighborhoods Committee (copies of which are available in the City Clerk's Office). She stated,
We are one(1) of eleven (11) standing Committees of the Council. We had eight(8)meetings last
year. Quality of life issues were, and continue to be, a major area of our concern. We've had at
least three(3)neighborhood bus tours. They were very successful.A lot of information was gained,
and we were able to connect with our residents on a more personal level. TRANSPO provided
transportation and we will continue looking to have those neighborhood tours in other districts we
can connect with. Light Up South Bend continues to be a very promising program and you will be
receiving, very shortly, an update from the Administration about that program and how we will
continue moving that forward. We discussed having Committee meetings in the neighborhood and
we will look more towards that as well. We did receive, from Community Investment, the
consultant gave a report in regard to the residential market potential. We need to continue that
discussion to see where we are at and what the next steps are by interfacing with the Department
of Community Investment as well as with our neighbors. We do have two (2) individuals that
submitted citizen member applications and I will be looking at those individuals. Hopefully at the
next meeting we will have citizen members that are a part of this Committee.
Committee Chair White then opened the floor to Committee and Council Members.
INTEGRITY SERVICE'ACCESSIBILITY
JENNIFER M.COFFMAN BIANCA L.TIRAoo JOSEPH R MOLNAR 1
CHIEF DEPUTY/DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS DEPUTY/DIRECTOR OF POLICY ORDINANCE VIOLATION CLERK
EXCELLENCE I ACCOUNTABILITY I INNOVATION I INCLUSION I EMPOWERMENT
455 County-City Building 1227 W.Jefferson Blvd.I South Bend,Indiana 46601 I p 574.235.9221 I f 574.235.9173 I www.southbendin.gov
