DEROSE <br />CHIEF ASSISTANT CITYATTORNEY <br />RE: Substitute Bill No. 5-05, to incorporate the adopt into South <br />Bend Municipal Code Chapter 9, Fire Prevention, the edition of <br />the fire code currently adopted for use by in Chapter 6, <br />Building, and adopted by the State of Indiana. <br />Dear Ms. Pfeifer: <br />On behalf of the South Bend Fire Department, I am submitting <br />Substitute Bill No. 5-05 to amend Chapter 9, Section 2 of the South <br />Bend Municipal Code. The purpose of the substitute bill is to <br />incorporate into the Municipal Code the most recently adopted fire <br />code used by the State of Indiana and the St. Joseph County/City of <br />South Bend Building Department. The difference between the <br />substitute bill and the original bill submitted is that the <br />substitute bill will automatically incorporate the fire code used <br />by the Building Department and the most up to date fire code used <br />by the State of Indiana, without the need for future amendments to <br />Chapter 9. <br />Either Fire Prevention Chief Howard Buchanon or I will present <br />the bill, and I will be available to address any questions of the <br />Health and Public Safety Committee. The Fire Department requests <br />your favorable consideration of this bill.
