RESOLUTION NO. 591 RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION, GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT, ENCOURAGING THE COMMON COUNCIL OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA TO DECLARE CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE DOWN- TOWN AREA OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, TO BE AN URBAN DEVELOP- MENT AREA FOR PURPOSES OF I.C. 6- 1.1- 12.1 -1 THROUGH I.C. 6 -1.1- 12.1 -6 INCLUSIVE WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, Department of Redevelopment is carrying out the Urban Renewal for an area known as the Central Downtown pursuant to the Urban Renewal plan for the Project, Indiana R -66; adopted by the Redevelopment Commission, City of South Bend, Indiana by Resolution No. 233 on the 10th day of October 1968, and WHEREAS, the area within the Indiana R -66 Project Area as it relates to the redevelopment of such area is bounded as follows: , Beginning at a point formed by the intersection of the north right -of -way line of LaSalle Avenue and the west right -of -way line of Main Street; thence south along the west right -of -way line of Main Street to the north right -of -way line of Washington Street; thence west along the north right -of -way line of Washington Street to the west right -of -way line of La Fayette Boulevard; thence south along the west right -of -way line of La Fayette Boulevard to the south right -of -way line of Jefferson Boulevard; thence east along the south right -of -way line of Jefferson Boulevard to the west right -of -way line of Main Street; thence south along the west right -of -way line of Main Street to the south right -of -way line of Monroe Street; thence east along the south right - of -way line of Monroe Street to the west right -of- way line of Fellows Street; thence south along the west right -of -way line of Fellows Street to the south right -of -way line of Monroe Street; thence east along the south right -of -way line of Monroe Street and proceeding in a northeasterly direction along said right -of -way line to the center of the St. Joseph River; thence proceeding in a north- westerly direction along the center of the St. Joseph River to the north right -of -way line of LaSalle Avenue; thence west along the north right -of -way line of LaSalle Avenue to the west right -of -way line of Main Street which is the point of beginning; a map of which area is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. WHEREAS, the designation Disposition Parcels 4 -1, 4 -31, and 4 -32 of such downtown area as an urban development area for purposes of I.C. 6 -1.1- 12.1 -1 through I.C. 6 -1.1- 12.1 -6, inclusive, will materially benefit the City and inhabitants of South Bend, Indiana, by significantly encouraging the construction, reconstruction, improvement, and general development of the downtown area and the buildings and land situated therein.
