<br />W$EREAS,,the Board of 'Public Works on the 28th., day of January 1919
<br />d id adopt a resolution. ®idering an4 requiring- the permaneat improvement of
<br />Sample Street from Walaut` Street to Olive %rset,...by paving.the roadway of the
<br />same, and
<br />WSEREAS, . the City ginner has prepared sad: riled. is the offt ire of this
<br />Board,: & revert ,showing the number and location of the- service. pipes, mains, conduits
<br />la e'rals, and connections which are, or will be necessary to accommodate the abut-
<br />ting property► ,anal the owners thereof .with 94, ,water, sewer, and. other conveniences
<br />showing the material to be used and the manner of 'laying said. service pipes, mains,
<br />conduits, laterals and connections from the mains to the, points Inside -of the curb
<br />lines.
<br />Therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Public Works, of the City of
<br />South Bend, Indiana, that the report of the: City Civil Engineer is adopted,
<br />and said report and the spec if lost imm ppppared' and f ilet by him are made a part of
<br />this resolut ion -as fully and effectually as if . copied hefein at full length, and it
<br />Is further ordered that all of such private connections with the sewer, - gas " and water
<br />mains be made in said street by bringlig them Inside the curb lines thereof.
<br />And be it further resolved that notice by publication for -two -successive
<br />days in the South; Bend Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation
<br />printed -'and
<br />published in the City e t .South Beads Isdlana, be given to the owners of the ;�rsM
<br />perty abutting upon said street to be ',iaproved directing rthem. to make such sewer
<br />wad Water c onnect ions on or , bef ore the l 7th. , day of Api,ii -191 and that if said
<br />connections are net made on or before sfid-time and in adeordance with the speci-
<br />2'ic0ieas and report on file In the office ®t' the Bord e!' Public Works, then said
<br />Board will cause ` the same to be made and will assess the cost thereof against the
<br />property `abutting upon said -street, and shall do all oche things petalaing theret•
<br />according to the provisions and requirements of Ordinance No. 1842, adopted by the
<br />Common Ceunc it of the -City ,8 South Bend on July 24th. ,1916, and of all other
<br />ordinances and laws relating therate.
<br />And, 'be it further resolved and ordered that aftser 20 days pariod
<br />has elapsed for the making `cd said c6anections by the property owners, a not -lee
<br />shall be published for two weeks, 'onee each week, is the South Bead Tribune a news-
<br />paper of general circulation puril- aped in said City, requdstisg bids from.the can -
<br />tractors for t°he making of such connections as have not been made by the property "
<br />owners, and such notice shall fix 's day, mot earlier than teu days after the first
<br />of.such publications, when bids shall be opened and a `contract let for the doing of
<br />said work.
<br />And be it furthr ordered that the Northern Indiana Gas & Electric
<br />Cempa►ny, which holds a `franchise from, Ad is `empowered, by said City to- furnish
<br />art_ if lcal gas `to the citizens thereon'; and is engaged in said bug3sess in `said City,.
<br />is hereby directed too make and Install all service eonase3ti®its with its mains iw said
<br />street In accordance with the with the provisions of ordinances No. 1555, adopted
<br />June 27,1910, and such other ordinances or laws applicable thereto; which coa-
<br />nectiexs are shown upon the. report of the City Engineer, and which are hereby
<br />declared to be- necessary in supplying gas to the owners of property abutting upex
<br />said street.
