RESOLUTION FOR SERVICE CONNECTIONS WITH MAINS

<br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works on the 28th,, day of January 1919
<br />did adopt'a resolution ordering and requiring the permanent improvement of
<br />Elder Street and Carroll Street ' from Michigan. Street- td Wenger Street by paving th
<br />the roa,dity of the same, and
<br />WHEREAS_ TnE City Civil Engineer has prepared and filed in the office of
<br />this Board a report showing the number and location of the service pi-pes, mains,
<br />conduits, la'terals_, and c.onnceetions which Rre,,, .or eili be necessary to aceommodab.
<br />the abutting property and the owners thereof with gas, water, sewer and other
<br />conveniences, and necessaries; and also said City Civil Engineer has prepared and
<br />filed in said office specifications shoeing the material to be used and the
<br />manner of laying said' service pipes, mains, conduits, laterals and connections
<br />from th'e mains to the= p-oinns insid,6- of the curb lines.
<br />THEREFORE, be it 'resolved by the Board' of Public Works of the City of
<br />South. Bend, Indiana, that the report of the City Civil. Engineer, -is adopted, and
<br />said report and the specifications prepared, and filed by himw are made a part
<br />�,- of this resolution as, Fully and effectually as is copied herein at full length; ad
<br />and it is., further ordered that all of .such .private connections with the .sewer,
<br />gee - ,and water mains b•e: made, -in said street by bring ing: them inside they curb lines
<br />thereof.
<br />And be it further resolved thbt notice by publication for two successive
<br />days in the South Bend Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation printed and
<br />published in the City of South Bend, Indiana be given to the owners of the
<br />`property abutting upon said street to be improved directing them to make such
<br />sewer and suer connections or. or before the 14th.9 day of April 1919-and-that is
<br />said connections are not made on or before said time and in accordance vAth the
<br />specifications and report on file-inthe office of the Board of Public Works; then
<br />said Board will cause the same to be made and will assess the cost thereof
<br />againstthe property abUtting upon said street, and shall do all other thintgs
<br />pertaining -'thereto according to the` provisisions and requirements of OrdfiRnce
<br />Nfl. 1842 adopted by the Common Council of the City of South Bend -on July 24th. -"
<br />1916, and of all other ordinanenes and laws relatin- thereto.
<br />And, be it further resolved and ordered that. after the 20 day period -has
<br />elapsed.for the making of said connections by the property owners, a notice shall
<br />be publs ihed for two weeks, once each• week, in the South Bend Tribune, a newspaper
<br />o#:general circulation published in said City, .requesting bids from the contrac-
<br />tors for the making of such connections as have not been Tpade by the property
<br />owners, and such notice shall #ix a day, not earlier than ten days after the
<br />fArst.0f such publications, when bids shall be opened and a contract let for
<br />the do�,hig -of said work.
<br />And be it further ordered that the Northern IndIana.Gas and Electric
<br />Combarly, which -holds a franchise from, and is empowered by said City to furnish
<br />art if ieai gas , to the citizens thereof, and is engaged in said business in said
<br />yity, is. hereby directed to makeda,nd_insta.11 all service connections Trith its
<br />mains in s-wid street in accordance with the pr©v is ions - of Ordinance No. 1555
<br />adopted June 27, 1910, and such other ordinances or la<ls applicbble thereto;
<br />which connections are shown upon the report of the City Civil Engineer, and which
<br />are.hereby declared to be necessary in supplying gas to the owners of property
<br />abutting; upon said street.
