<br />The following resolutions were adopted by the Board.
<br />SIDEWALK IMPROVEY-ENT RESOLUTION NO. 629.
<br />Resolved by the Board of Public Woks of the City of South Bend,
<br />St, Joseph County, State of Indiana, That it is deemed heeessary to improveVarious
<br />Streets in the City of South Bend, Indiana. That an improvement to be made of the kind
<br />s ize, location and terminal points as follows, to --wit: -
<br />That bids be received- for the
<br />construction and repairing of cement side -walks, curbs and for filling timid excavating;
<br />for said sidewalks and ourbs, on different streets in said City,'where the same have
<br />already been partly constructed, or defintely constructed, All such work to be done
<br />after the owners of abutting. property have been ordered and notified to construct or re-
<br />pair such sidewalks and curbs for a period of 30 days from the date. of any such notice,
<br />All.work to.be constructed or repaired in accordance with Standard
<br />Spec if icat ions on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City.
<br />All work to be done and assessments made as provided in Section 1
<br />of an Act entitled " An Act Concerning Municipal Corporations, approved 19091, at
<br />pages 412 , 413. in accordance with the profile, details, drawings and specifications
<br />on file in the office of the Department of the Board of Public Works of said City;
<br />and such improvements is now ordered. °
<br />The cost of said improvement, including the cost of street sand alley
<br />intersections a, shall be assessed upon the real estate abutting on Various Street
<br />all according to the method and manner provided for ' in an Act of the General Assembly
<br />of the State of Indiana,, -entitled " An -Act Concerning Munddopal Corporaiiions, " approved
<br />March 6,1905, and in ace ordanee with and pursuant to the prov is is ions- of all amendatory
<br />and supplemental acts thereto, passed by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana.
<br />Assessments, if deferred, are to be paid in ten equal annual installlmentg, with in-
<br />terest -at tiie rate of Six per cent per annum. A bond or bonds shall ba- issued to. the
<br />contractor in paymen-t for such work, unless the property owners pay said assessment
<br />before said bond or bonds are issued. Under no circumstances shall be City of South
<br />Bend, it or be held responsible for any sum or sums due from said property owner or
<br />owners f v-P said work or for the collect ion of the Same, or for the payment 6h any bond,
<br />bonds, certificate or certificates, aissued to said entractor in payment for such work,
<br />exempt for such moneys as shall have been actually received by the City from the assess-
<br />ments- for such improvement, or such. moneys as said City is by said above entitled
<br />Act -required to pay. All proc-aedings had, and work done in the making of said improve-
<br />ment, assessment of property, collection of assessments and issuance of bonds therefor,
<br />shall be as provided fn in said above entitled Act and amendments thereto.
<br />It was further resolved by the Board that bids be advertised on
<br />the %th., day of March 1919 and on the 14th., dayof March 1919 in the South Bend Daily
<br />Tribune, stating that this Board will rec.e iye bids on March 25th. ,1919 up to 10: 00 A.M
<br />The Board reserzres the right to reject any and all bids.
