<br />The following resolut ion vas adopted by the Board.
<br />SIDEWALK IMPR UVEMENT . RES 0 UT ION N0. 623.
<br />Resolved, by the Board of Public . Works of the City of South Bend,
<br />St. Joseph County, State of Inc* ans, That it is deemed necessary to improve Main
<br />Street from Ewing Avenue to hhe south line of Eckman's Oakside Third Addition as
<br />follows, to -wit:-
<br />Said, street shall- be graded from property line, to property line to the
<br />established grade, curbing the roadway with cement curb and constructing cement sidewalk
<br />on both sides of said Main Street;. all as is more particularly shown and all in accord-
<br />ance_wit.4 plans, prof ilea, detail drawings and spec if scat_ ions.. on f ile a in the office of
<br />the department of Publ;ip Works\ of the: City of South Bend, Indian in accordance with the
<br />profile, details, drawings and specifications on f ile in the Off ioe of the Department
<br />of the Board of Public Works of said City; and such improvement is now ordered.
<br />The cost of- said improvement, including the cost of street and alley
<br />intersections, shall be assessed upon the real estate abutting on said Main Street,
<br />all according to the -method and manner provided for .in an Act of the General Assembly
<br />of the State of Indiana, entitled,, " An Act Concerning Municipal Corporations, " approved
<br />March 6,1905, and in accordance with and prsuant to the provisions of all amendatory
<br />and supplemental acts thereto, passe4d by the General Assembly of the State of Indians,
<br />Assessments.,, if deferred, are to be.-13aid in ton equal annual installments, with interest
<br />at the rate of Six per cent per annum. A bond or bonds shall be issued to, the constrictor
<br />in payment for such work, unless the property owners pay said assessments before said
<br />bond or bonds are issued. Under no circumstances shall the City of South Bend be, or be
<br />held responsible for any sum or sums due from laid property owner or owners for said
<br />work or for the collection of the same, or for the payment of any bond, bonds, certi-
<br />ficates or certificates, issued to said contractor in -payment -for uch work, except for
<br />such moneys as shall have been actually received by the City from the assessments for
<br />such improvement, or such moneys as said City is by said above entitled Act required
<br />to pay. All proceedings -had, and work done in the making of said improvement, assessment
<br />of property, collection of -asses . sments and issuance of bonds therefor, shall be as pro-
<br />vided for in said above ent it led Act and amendments thereto.
<br />Notice of this resolution shall be published on -he 27th., day of
<br />Februafy 1919 and on the 6th. 'day of March 1919 in the South Bend Daily 'Tribuge,
<br />This -Board will give a hearing on this resolution in 'its off ice . in the dity Hall on the
<br />26th., day of March 1919 at 7:15 P.M.

<br />• RESOLUTION FOR SERVICE CONNECTIONS WITH MAINS,
<br />No. 624.
<br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works on the 14th., day of January 1919•
<br />did adopt a resolution ordering and requiring the permanent improvement of Bartlett,
<br />Street from Michigan Street to Lafayette Blvd. by paving the roadway of the '-same, and
<br />WHEREAS, the City Civil Engineer has prepared and filed in the office
<br />of this Board a report eltowing the number and location of the service pipes, mains,
<br />conduits, laterals and connections which are, or will be necessary to accommodate
<br />the abutting property and the owners thereof with gas:, water, sewer, and other con-
<br />veniences and necessaries; and also said City .Civil Engineer has prepared and filed in said
<br />office specifications showing the material to b.e used and the .manner of laying said
<br />service pipes, mains, conduits, laterals and connections from the mains to the points
<br />inside of the curb lined.
