Perkins. <br />May 31st.01918. <br />To The Honorable Board of Public Works. <br />GentlemOX:- . <br />Referring to your �etter of May 29th.0 1918 requesting a report of the <br />conditions of the Buil.din; Department", I respectfully submit the following. <br />There are at present 2.20 active building, permits i.e. permits for work <br />which. has not been finally inspected ad a, -proved. The value of the .work covered by <br />these permits is $860.897.00. <br />There is one moving permit, f;r which a deposit of $50.00 is being <br />held p end ing filing of proper affidavits against it, The limit of , t itme for f it i.ng <br />affidavits is June 7th. ,1918. <br />There are three condemnation erders, which have been issued by the <br />department, which have not been satisfactory disposed of. One building - at 214 <br />North Michigan Street, which the owner has .not removed. This building has already <br />been: r*terred tbthe Board of Public Works, but ado advice has been received of what <br />action was taken. out building at 413 South St. Joseph Street whose walls are <br />temporarily braced. This eoadition was rjermitted temporarily pending rec©x- <br />struetiox, brit is net regarded as permanently safe, If reconstruction work is not <br />started within two or three weeks, . Commissioxer of Buildings, City Ekeetric ian- a.nd Clerk. <br />The work of the department during the past month has been ordinary <br />and the present force in evidently adequate, to handle the situation.
