88 <br />Board met in regular session at 10:00 A.M. All members present. <br />Mr. Staples of the Standard Oil Company appeared before the s <br />Board in regard to selling Semd c Liquid Gloss for use in the City Hall. The Board <br />ordered one half (j) barred of same at price .quoted of $.65.6 per gallon. <br />/ Mr. L. H. Webster appeared before the Board and requested an <br />extension of time on the High Street and Ewing Avenue Trunk sewer system. The' <br />Board unanimously granted an extension of time to complete said sewer system` <br />until June lst.,1918. <br />The following communication was received from Frederick J. <br />Anderson, Chairman of the Examining .Board for positions in the Building Department. <br />January 15,1918. <br />To the Honorable Board of Public Works. <br />South Bend, Indiana.' <br />Gent 1 emen: - <br />As a result of an examination held January ll, ,the Examining Board <br />herewith certifies the list of et ig ibles for appointment to various positions <br />in the Building Department: <br />Commissioner . of Buildings. Cheater A. Perkins. <br />Aset. Commissioner of Buildings. Wallace D, TeeAlle. <br />Inspector C.C. Taylor. <br />City Electrician: <br />(1) Chas. E. Starr <br />(2) R. W. Fleming. <br />(3) Fred Champaign* <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Vernon Maurer, Hilton Hammond. <br />Ernest Young Walter Fassnaeht <br />Frederick J. Anderson. <br />Board of Examiners, by <br />FREDERICK J. ANDERSON. <br />Chairman.. <br />Communication received from Frederick J. Anderson, Chairman of the <br />Board of Examiners certifying a list of eligibles for appointments in regard to <br />Building Commissioner and assistants, and the Board unanimously select the follow* <br />persons from said list.l <br />C. A. Perkins, Commissioner of Buildings, Wallace D. Teeple, Assistant <br />Commissioner, C. C. Taylor, inspector and Charles E. Starr for City Electrician. <br />-The office of assistant City Electrician to remain open until Tuesday January 22nd <br />1918. at 10:00 A.M. Clerk instructed to notify parties appointed by letter, and <br />to - tot fy Chas. E. Starr to report for duty at once. <br />The following communication received from Mayor F. R.-Carson. <br />January.1501918. <br />To the Honorable Board of Public Works, <br />Gentlemen: - <br />I most respectfully sub mit to your Honorable Board an application <br />for secretary, also would ask for a typewriter abd desk. <br />Very respectfully, <br />F.R. CARBON, <br />Mayor, <br />In regard to the above communication received by the Board from Mayor <br />F. R. Carson requesting employment of a clerk, and in as much as the Board needed <br />to employ additional clerical assistance in the Water Department, it was decided <br />to employ Miss Clara Seiler as secretary to the Mayor at a salary of $65.O0 per <br />month, the same to be paid out of the water works fund , with additional duties, <br />as all extra --work in the water works department when not amp toyed th business. <br />of the executAv4 department. The same to be effective from January �th. ,�i91T <br />,at Moon. <br />Bill for the amount of $13.25 submitted to the City for payment <br />by Miss J. Morley, for the cleaning of sewer at 411 W. Wayne and referred to the <br />Board by the Street Commissioner, was ant allowed by Board. <br />
