Safety data sheet sections <br />• Section 1 - manufacturer information <br />This section lists the names, addresses and emergency telephone numbers of the <br />manufacturer, distributor, or company that prepared it, as well as the date it was prepared. <br />The identity of the chemical and the chemical family will be listed. <br />• Section 2- hazardous ingredients <br />This section lists the hazardous ingredients in a mixture and the common names of <br />individual chemicals. It also provides property exposure and threshold limit values of the <br />ingredients. <br />• Section 3- chemical data <br />This section provides information on the specific properties of the chemical plus a physical <br />description of the material. <br />• Section 4 - Physical hazard data <br />This section alerts individuals to any specific physical hazards associated with the product. <br />It further describes special firefighting techniques and any unusual fire hazards associated <br />with the product. <br />• Section 5- spill or leak procedures <br />This section describes steps to be taken in case of the material is released or spilled. <br />• Section 6 - Exposure control information <br />This section outlines how exposure to chemicals can be controlled by the use of personal <br />protective equipment. It includes the appropriate engineering controls and effective work <br />practices. <br />• Section 7 - Special precautions <br />This section explained special precautions that should be taken during storage and handling <br />of the chemical. <br />Employee training <br />It is Environmental Glass's policy that the project foreman will provide employees the <br />information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their <br />initial assignment. The foreman will update this information as needed <br />• Employees are to be informed about the following. <br />1) The requirements of 29 CFR 1910.1200 <br />2) Any operations in their work area where chemicals are present. <br />3) The location and availability of the "up to date" hazard communication program <br />including the required lists of hazardous chemicals and safety data sheets. <br />
