Petitions were filed as follows: - Petition for alight at 1538 W. Fisher Street. G' Petition for a, light on Pleasant Street and 16th. , Street. Petition foe a sidewalk on Brookfield Street. from. California Avenue to 1st. alley north.. .he same were read and placed on file. Renewal certificate of the London and Lancash&re Indemnity Company of America for John G. Kestler for excavating in the City Streets was approved by the Board. Communication received from Chief of Police U. F. Kerr in regard to a defective cell lock. The Board ordered that D. Armstrong be notified to repair same. The ,following communication was received read and placed on file. TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS South Bend, Indiana. Gentlemen: - It has been suggested to me by Sergent.Stickley that notices be gotten out to distribute to the people in the fire limits to keep. their sidewalks clean of snow this co ming'winter, ° Respectfully yours, ILLARD F. I advise you that I have filed motions in the Circuit Court to reinstate the causes of Joseph D. Oliver, Trustee, and Sanders -Egbert Company vs City of South Bend, in reference to the opening of Union Street The court has fixed October 12th., as the time of hearing said mot ions. Die amount of money required of the City to settle the Oliver case of $2,000.00 with interest at 6% per annum from July lot., 1912. The amount it the Sanders-Egbert Co. case is $500.00 with interest at 6% from July lot., 1912. And the city must pay the court costs in both cases. This will give the City the right to use for street purposes the land condemned. Yours very truly, E. F. Board of Public Works, Sou t Bend, Indiana, Gent emen:- • Your records will show that some things like a year ago you granted permission to have a spur from the Vandalia Track rug across Grast Street and the alley so as to reset a car upon the corner of my lot which is occultied by the Kendallville Ufg. ; Co., The corner of the building has been removed leaving a place for the car. The railroad people are just now ready to run their track. There are poles for electric wires that are in the way and will have to be moved. Will you kindly see that this is done in a prompt way, so that when hhe railroad people are ready to lay the track, which they have promised to do without delay, they can do so uninterrupted.
