Board met in regular session at 10:00 A. U. Mr. J. B. Weber absent. <br />Mr. H. M. Romberg of Fort Wayne Indiana, representing the American <br />Telephone and Telegraph Company appeared before the Board and.filed the following <br />request to s'et poles. ` <br />American Telehpone and 'Telegraph Company request p-rmission to set <br />poles and connecting wires thereupon in and across Gertrude Street from Prairie Avenue <br />to the Southern City Limits in accordance with the terms and conditions and orov is ions of <br />Ordinance No. 909 adopted June 13th., 1893. <br />The Board granted permission as follows: - <br />To build telephone and <br />telegraph line onthe west side of Gertrude Street from Prairie Avenue to Ewing Avenue <br />and request that said company use jointly the poles already standing.on the west side of <br />Gertrude Street with the South Bend Home Telephone Company, and if present poles are <br />to small to replace same with larger poles and remove small poles. <br />Atty. L. Remine appeared before the Board in regard to ten day notice <br />bet to the Ryan Estate to remove that part of brick bulding which extend out on William <br />Street.. alley, and asked permiss ion to be released from 'taking said part of building <br />down. The same was not granted. <br />Building Commissioner C. A Perkins appeared before the Board and <br />filed following communication; application and notice to companies that Walter Woodka <br />for moving house at 1032 W. gash. Ave. <br />To the Honorable Board.of Public Works., <br />. Gentlemen: - <br />v This move necessitates moving over asphalt pavement on W..Washington Avenue <br />for a distance 0appraximately 400 feet. The law prohibits moving over asphalt pavements <br />between May 1st., and November lat., (Section #457 paragraph #1861 Building Code.) <br />The building is of me idum wieght and if moved at -night on planks it is likely <br />that no damage to the _pavemaht will occur. <br />A permit was refused July 3rd.1917.. <br />Respectfully, <br />The samswas read and placed on file. Perkins. <br />Concerning the improvement othe roadway of Milton Street from Miami Street <br />to High Street in purasance to resolution No. 522 the petition of freeholders residing <br />on said street is considered and the report of the City Engineer is received and all <br />evidence is heard, and the Board finds that said pet it ionerg c ons itute a majority ' in <br />number of the freeholders residing upon said street to be improved, and that said petition <br />is suffic&dnt. And it is therefore considered and adjudged that said improvement be made <br />*-Ith Asphaltic Concrete the kind of pavement requested in said petition; and the City <br />Engineer repotts that Western Construction Company is the lowest and best bidder for <br />said kind of pavement, and the Board so finds, And lets the contract for said improve- <br />ment to him, and orders that said improvement to be made with Asphaltic Concrete and all <br />proceedings heretofore had in this matter are hereby confirmed and ratified. <br />E M.
