Purpose <br />To reduce the opportunity for accidental injuries to persons, and to protect the property of the <br />company, employees, other workers, customers, and the general public. To detect illegal <br />and unauthorized substance abuse and contraband in the workplace, and to improve safety, <br />productivity, quality workmanship, tardiness and minimize employee absenteeism. <br />Scope <br />This policy applies to all G.E. Marshall, Inc. employees. Our Substance Abuse Policy may be <br />required to comply with the contractual obligations of our customers, government <br />agreements, a particular federal, state, or local agency, or owner requirements. G. E. <br />Marshall, Inc. employees will adhere to the Building and Construction Resource Center's <br />(BCRC) requirements. The requirements for the Standard BCRC Policy and DOT Highway <br />BCRC Policy can be found in Attachments A and B, respectively, in Section 48 — <br />Attachments. <br />Definitions <br />AJ_qoho1 - Any fermented, distilled or manufactured substance which, when consumed, can <br />impair normal functions. <br />Annual - Not based on a calendar year, but based on 12-month periods with the start of the <br />period reflecting the date the employee began work on the owner's premise. <br />Com2any Premis@§ - Includes all buildings, land, vehicles, work areas, jobsites, customer <br />areas and work locations, whether owned, leased, rented, or used by G.E. Marshall, Inc-, as <br />well as anywhere an employee is working in the course and scope of Company employment <br />and pay status, including while working on the property of another employer, customer, or a <br />client. <br />2wo - As used in this policy, the term means any drug, narcotic or other substance of which <br />use or possession is prohibited or controlled by state or federal statute. The term includes <br />substances prescribed by a physician. The terms and conditions under which an employee <br />may use and possess physician prescribed drugs are covered under prescription medicines <br />in this policy. <br />Fj[§J Zisit �c[Sgni_ng - A screening performed upon an employee's initial visit at a healthcare <br />facility due to a work -related injury suffered on company property or the jobsite. <br />E±Iqss For _Qqly_Fgrm - A form used to objectively determine reasonable cause for <br />substance abuse testing. <br />Illegal drugs - A controlled substance included in Schedule I or 11, as defined by Section 802 <br />(6) of Title 21 of the United States Code, the possession of which is unlawful under Chapter <br />13 of that title. The five (5) more common illegal substances include: <br />Marijuana (THC metabolite) <br />Cocaine <br />Amphetamines <br />Opiates (including heroin) <br />Phencyclidine (PCP) <br />C 2016 Safety Management Group of IN, Inc. 159 <br />
