JUNE 1, 2016 THROUGH MAY 31, 2019 <br />ARTICLES OF AGREEMENT <br />for <br />GENERAL CONSTRUCTION <br />OF <br />HEAVY AND HIGHWAY <br />PROJECTS <br />IN <br />LAKE AND PORTER COUNTIES, INDIANA <br />CALUMET CITY, ILLINOIS <br />THIS AGREEMENT made and entered into by and between the undersigned, hereinafter referred <br />to as the 'Employer" and Teamsters Union Local No. 142, an affiliate of the international Brotherhood of <br />Teamsters, hereinafter referred to as the "Union". An Employer is a person, firm or corporation who is <br />signatory to this Agreement. (The term 'Employer" includes those members of the Four County Highway <br />Contractors Group (herein "The Group") who have assigned their bargaining rights to The Group and <br />those Individual employers who, although not having assigned their bargaining rights to The Group, have <br />agreed to become signatory to this Agreement.) <br />WITNESSETH <br />THE PURPOSE OF THIS Agreement is (a) to enter into a definite labor management contract <br />covering the wages, hours, conditions of work and terms of employment in the relationship <br />between Employer and employee; (b) to prevent strikes, lockouts and work stoppages; (c) to <br />adopt suitable measures for the peaceful settlement of grievances and differences; (d) to <br />secure to members of The Group or other Employer sufficient capable employees; (e) to <br />protect the economic and employment welfare of employees, <br />It is mutually understood and agreed that the following terms relating to the wages, hours and <br />working conditions of workmen covered by this Agreement have been decided upon by means of <br />collective bargaining, and that the following provisions will be binding upon the parties to this Agreement <br />during the terms of this Agreement and any renewal period thereof. <br />
