South Bend Central Development Area <br />(2) continued... <br />The Area Plan Commission and South Bend <br />Common Council acted to approve the <br />amendment. The next step in the process is <br />to hold a public hearing on the request. Staff <br />requests to set the public hearing for 9:30 <br />a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2012. <br />Mr. Alford made a motion to accept for filing <br />Resolution No. 3036 and set the public <br />hearing on Resolution No. 3036 for 9:30 <br />a.m., June 28, 2012. Mr. Varner seconded <br />the motion. The motion failed to get three <br />favorable votes. Mr. Davis was opposed. <br />(3) Proposal for professional services for site <br />improvements at ACSNA (Western Ave. <br />Veterans Administration Clinic). <br />Mr. Schalliol noted that DJ Construction is <br />the contractor ACS used for its work on the <br />VA Clinic. They have submitted a proposal <br />for construction work the Commission is <br />responsible for in the building's interior and <br />exterior of the project. The scope of services <br />in this agreement consist of environmental <br />remediation, exterior and interior building <br />improvements and improvements that relate <br />and coordinate with the improvements made <br />to the structure by ACS, the building tenant. <br />As part of the reuse plan for the building, all <br />environmental remediation of the building <br />was done at the beginning of the project to <br />eliminate future conflicts when removing <br />asbestos materials.
