SCOPE OF SERVICES Task 1: Hardcourt Study and Assessment Report Kick-off Meetin with City of South Bend Engineering and VPA staff. This meeting will be held in conjunction with the field Conditions assessment Field Conditions Assessment, with COSB Engineering/VPA staff-14 venues. The assessment includes reviewing 14 outdoor hardcourt facilities for issues related to subsurface drainage, surface ponding, free pavement thickness and condition, base conditions, if known, and other factors affecting the playing surface including moisture retention, vegetation management, debris accumulation impacts on surface detrioation, etc. Recommendations for improvements to surface and subsurface drainage conditions, freeze -thaw conditions, subgrade conditions, edge management, pavement section, and related management issues will be provided. Recommendations for pavement cores, where necessary at select sites will be provided. Geotechnical scope by others, as necessary. WBK recommends a budget of $5,000 for this work. It is included as an alternate allowance in our scope of services. Pre are Draft Conditions Assessment Report for each of the 14 hardcourt locations including recommendations for surface grade modifications, subgrade enhancement through drainage and replacement of stone pavement, repair or replacement pavement and options for pavement surfaces. Engineer's Estimate of Probable Cost for each hardcourt location. Finalize Conditions Assessment Report by addressing comments provided by COSB Engineering/VPA staff. Task 2: Preliminary Engineering Plans for Hardcourt Renovations Pavement Core Review. We will review a geotechnical pavement core investigation (provided by others).. The cost to complete a geotechnical investigation is not included in our costs, but we will obtain proposals, if requested, and review them with you. The contractual obligations for any geotechnical investigations will be between you and the Geotechnical Consultant. Preiirninar orwge wi P'ia preparation at a scale of approximately 1"=30'. The plan will show cursory grading information, utilities, storm sewer, and surface and subsurface (tile) drainage information. Prehmiinary 0 inion of Probabie Construction Costwill be prepared based upon the information contained in the preliminary design documents. !Consultation. We have budgeted attending up to two (2) meetings with the City staff to determine the standards to be used in the design as well as the adequacy of existing infrastructure that serves the facilities.
