The Contractor shall not be paid for additional asbestos material removed without prior <br />inspection by the City. <br />4. The Contractor and any of its subcontractors performing asbestos abatement are expected <br />to inspect the properties to be demolished. No additional allowances will be made for any <br />difficulties that may be encountered in executing the required work due the failure of the <br />Contractor or any of its subcontractors to inspect the site. <br />5. In the event asbestos reports are not included due to unsafe or unable structures or <br />conditions to obtain samples, the attached documents referring to the Indiana <br />Administrative Code 326; Article 14; Rule 10; Section 1. (b). shall apply. The Contractor <br />shall send all asbestos for disposal to IDEM approved facilities. Proper documentation <br />(manifesting, disposal tickets, etc.) shall be stored and provided to the Engineer for review. <br />6. Payment for Asbestos Abatement shall be the Lump Sum Unit Price for Asbestos <br />Abatement as set forth in the bid/proposal for each house. <br />XXV. DEMOLITION AND CLEARING <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: ASTM D698 <br />B. Additions;. <br />1. The Contractor shall remove all the structures indicated on the Bid/Proposal including but <br />not limited to basements and their contents and all walkways, driveways, curbing, steps, <br />slabs, pavements whether concrete or asphalt, retaining walls, signs, and foundations. <br />2. The Contractor shall remove fences if listed on the bid sheet to be removed. <br />3. Demolition Procedure: <br />a. All demolition procedures shall be conducted in such a way that non -regulated <br />asbestos containing materials on or within the structures shall remain non friable. <br />b. Arrangements have been made to disconnect utilities and the work has been <br />completed or in the process of completion. If a utility line is found active, notify the <br />Engineer and suspend work on that site. <br />c. The use of explosives on the site shall not be permitted. No open fires or burning shall <br />be permitted. <br />d. Use water sprinkling, temporary enclosures, and other suitable methods to limit the <br />amount of dust and dirt rising and scattering into the air. Do not use water when it may <br />create hazardous or unsafe conditions such as ice, flooding, and pollution. <br />(i) The Contractor shall not draw water from hydrants. <br />e, The Contractor shall remove all the structures including basements and their contents <br />and all walkways, driveways, curbing, steps, slabs, pavements whether concrete or <br />asphalt, fences, retaining walls, signs and foundations, saplings, bushes, shrubs, dead <br />trees and any other such items from within property boundaries. Trees that interfere <br />with the work to be done may be removed from the site for the Contractor's <br />convenience. Trees along the curb may only be removed if permitted by the Parks <br />Department through the City Forester. No additional payments will be made for tree <br />removal.
