REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 13, 2012 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Community Relations Committee – James Burns, James Lee <br /> <br />Health & Public Safety Committee – Kyle Chamberlin <br /> <br />Parks, Recreation, Cultural Arts & Entertainment Committee – James Mazurkiewicz <br /> <br />Residential Neighborhoods Committee – Kenneth Bradford, Jennifer Tindell <br /> <br />Utilities Committee – Christine Sopczynski, Dawn Pontius <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4147-12 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />PUBLICLY HONORING THE WASHINGTON <br />HIGH SCHOOL BOYS FOOTBALL TEAM FOR <br />A TRULY MEMORABLE 2011-2012 SEASON <br /> <br /> <br />Whereas, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, proudly <br />recognizes the 2011-2012 Washington High School Boys Football Team who went from <br />0-10 records in 2007 and 2008, to representing our great city in the first state title IHSAA <br />Class 4A Game in Indianapolis since 1973; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the Panthers electrified season included a regular season record of 6-3, <br />with the team going on to decisively win all three (3) Sectional games, and the Regional <br />and Semi-State games; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the South Bend Common Council notes that Washington High School is <br />guided by School Superintendent Dr. Carole Schmidt, Principal George McCullough, Jr., <br />Assistant Principals Teresa Phillips and Jeremy Tucker, and the football team is guided <br />by Athletic Director Chris Matthys, Head Coach Antwon Jones, Assistant Coaches Jarvis <br />Edison, Jay Johnson, Weston Lambert, Chris Jones, Jr., John Christy, Maurice Wilkins, <br />Jr., Reggie Brooks, Tony McWilliams, and Joel Bonder; and Student Managers Brandon <br />Blount and Isaiah McWilliams; and they, along with their dedicated teachers provide all <br />student-athletes with “…a diverse, challenging, and enriching education that fosters <br />accountability, respect, and lifelong learning”; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the Common Council would like to publicly recognize that the student- <br />athletes of the 2011-2012 Washington High School Boy Football Team, namely: <br /> <br />Jeremiah Johnson Alex Euriga Daiveon Perkins Amani Lee <br />Kelly Kolat Levi Welch Jarvis Mitchell Derek Williams <br />Daigien Morgan Houston Anderson William Howell-Bey Michael Taylor <br />Gehrig Dieter Adam Gonzalez Chad Douglas Dustin Dennig <br />Torriano Harris Matthew Clay Josh Laskowski LaVondale Reid <br />Antwon Ivery Duron Ivery Luis Lopez Tye Thornsberry <br />Alfonso Mack David Perkins James Toney Braelon Wilkens <br />J’Lonnis Horton Alex Brooks Dontrell Newman Pedro Garcia <br />Ira White Jarvis Mitchell Devonte Hughes Tyler Parish <br />Shawn Caplinger Anthony Hall Terrance Bush Earl Quinn <br />Kenny Jackson Byron Orvis Jalen Adams Enrique Nuzez <br /> <br />Howard DavidsonRicardo Bedolla Francisco Ramirez Austin Traxler <br />Tyon Belcher Jason Wilson Christian Campbell Lafay Flemming <br />Jonathan Coleman Darrion Herell Stone Lewis <br /> <br />Now, Therefore, be it resolved, by the Common Council of South Bend, Indiana, <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the <br /> <br />Common Council congratulates each & every student-athlete and the entire staff of the <br />2011-2012 WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL BOYS FOOTBALL TEAM for a most <br /> 2 <br /> <br />
