South Bend Central Development Area <br />(2) continued... <br />Mr. Schalliol noted that the scope of work <br />included in the proposal details many <br />asbestos locations within the building. These <br />hot spots must all be remediated before <br />restoration or reuse plans can be developed <br />for the site. The proposal amount for the <br />work is $18,780. Wightman Petrie, the <br />environmental firm that prepared the asbestos <br />report, would provide oversight of the work <br />Diamond Environmental would do at the site. <br />Staff requested Commission approval for this <br />proposal. <br />Ms. Jones asked if there was active interest in <br />this building. Mr. Schalliol's response was <br />that there is interest, but staff is waiting until <br />its known what will potentially be done. <br />Mr. Davis asked if the known interest is <br />consistent with the city plan. Mr. Schalliol <br />responded that it is. <br />Mr. Varner asked if the interested party is a <br />governmental agency or private enterprise. <br />Mr. Schalliol responded that it is a private <br />enterprise. <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by <br />Mr. Varner and unanimously carried, the <br />Commission approved proposal for <br />environmental remediation of asbestos and <br />related environmental materials at 325 -329 S. <br />Lafayette for the scope of services and fee <br />proposed. <br />6 <br />COMMISSION APPROVED PROPOSAL FOR <br />ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION OF ASBESTOS <br />AND RELATED ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS AT <br />325 -329 S.
