South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting —March 13, 2012
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
B. South Bend Central Development Area
(1) continued...
including the portion north of the Water
Works North Station. Mr. Relos responded
that on the east side of Michigan Street, the
development area boundary ends at Bartlett
Street. It does not include Leeper Park.
Mr. Varner suggested the Commission
amend the boundaries to include the park. It
is in need of improvements and it is the
entrance to downtown.
Mr. Downes asked whether this would need
approval down state. Mr. Inks believed it
would be a strictly local decision.
Ms. Jones noted that the Medical Services
District ends in 2015, so the timing is critical.
The decision should be made sooner rather
then later. Mr. Relos noted that the cost of
these improvements depends on bids.
Whether there is money remaining in the TIF
district would depend on whether the bids
come in under budget.
Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by
Mr. Alford and unanimously carried, the
Commission approved Resolution No. 3009
approving and authorizing the execution of
an Addendum to the Master Agency
Agreement (Memorial Hospital Fagade
Project).
(2) Proposal for environmental remediation of
asbestos and related environmental
materials at 325 -329 S. Lafayette (former
Shillings building).
8
COMMISSION APPROVED RESOLUTION NO. 3009
APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION
OF AN ADDENDUM TO THE MASTER AGENCY
AGREEMENT (MEMORIAL HOSPITAL FACADE
PROJECT).
