Rice absent. <br />Bids were received, o,oened and read for pipe sewer on Miami Street <br />from Fox Street to Ewing Avenue, also bid received for grade, curb and walk-on Ninth St. <br />from Pleasant St. to St. Josebh River. The same were all referred to the City Engineer <br />f or tabulation. <br />This being the date set fzr deferred hearing on Track Separation Res - <br />solution No. 2 for elevation of New York Central.Ry. Company tracks in this City <br />from Chapin Street to Michigan Street. Hearing e ont inued until Tuesday September 12th. <br />1916 at 10: 00 A.M. The Chicago, South Bend & North ern Indiana, Railway Company was ordered <br />to be made parties of this rroceedings, and a c apy1-of`Resolution No. 2 w�.s ordered <br />served today giving them a ten (10) days notice. <br />Attorny Samuel Darker appeared for the Vandalia Railroad Company <br />and stated that said company agree uo sever their connections with the New York <br />Central Railroad Company, but work was to continue along, until that time. <br />The following parties appeared 'in regard to above hearing. Johnson representing the Studebaker Corporation <br />appeared before the Board and presented the following communication: <br />Honorable Board of Public Works <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />Gentlemen:- <br />We are going to erect a building at'the northeast corner of Lafayette <br />and South Streets. We are desirous of laying a steam pipe from our office building to <br />said property for -heating this building and would likea permit to lay it in the <br />alley that runs north and south between Main and Lafayette Streets.
