zis <br />Property owners on W. Division Street between Olive Street andChicago St. <br />appeared before the Board and requested that Division St. be oiled between these <br />points, also sewer and water on said street. The Board instructed these property <br />owners uo file a petition for sewer and water. <br />✓ Petition filed for a light on 525 Phillipa Street. Same placed on file. <br />Contracts were awarded on the following improvements. <br />Pipe sewer on Ochard Street and Kendall Avenue from Scott Street to <br />Dunham Street to L. H. Webster.,. <br />Pipe sewer on Donald Street from Michigan Street to Main'Street to <br />L. H. Webster. <br />Water connections on Jaquith Court from Chapin Street 'to Prairie Ave. <br />to Thos. Williams. <br />Sewer on Marine Street from Indiana Avenue to Calvert St. to Stalliss <br />✓ & Ackerman. <br />Pavement on alley west of Lafayette Street from Marion Street to <br />Navarre Street to Hoban & Roach. <br />Estimated cost of cement sidewalk improvement on the west side of Kemble <br />Avenue from Oliver Street to Ewing Avenue at ........ $90Q.00 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2. FOR TRACK SEPARATION. <br />Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana: - <br />That it is deemed necessary that the grade crossings of the tracks <br />of the New York Central Railroad Company, formerly the Lake Shore & Michigan <br />Southern Railroad Company, a steam railroad, at the intersection of said traciks'> <br />with Michigan Street, Bronson Street, Main Street, Lafayette Street, Prairie Avenue, <br />Scott Street and Chapin Street, all in the'City of South Bend, Indiana, be altered <br />by elevating the said tracks at said intersections. And that the change in grade <br />of said several intersecting streets, and the amount in feet of the clearance at <br />each intersection between the surfaxe of each of such streets as proposed by such <br />new grade, and the bottom of the superstructure work over the same, shall be as <br />follows: - <br />1. At the intersection of Michigan Street and the tracks of said ' <br />Railroad, the surface of said street shall be depressed six feet below the top of <br />the highest rail of the tracks at the intersection as .now maintained;. clearance <br />shall be sixteen (16) feet between t'ie surface of the street as fixed abovem and. the <br />bottom of the superstructure work over said street; the grade of the approach of <br />said street on the north shall be a uniform grade•from the south line of South <br />Street to the north line of the superstructure over said street, and the grade of <br />the approach on the south shall be an ascending grade of two and one-half (2--) <br />feet to each one hundred (100) feet from the south line of the superstructure. <br />2. At the intersection of Bronson Street and the tracks of said <br />Railroad, which street intersects them at the same point that Michigan Street does, <br />the depression and the clearance shall be the same as is provided in No. One above <br />for Michigan Street; the grade of the approaches of said street be an ascending <br />grade of three (3) feet to each one Hundred.(100) feet each way east and 'west from <br />the east and west lines of the superstructures over said street respectively. <br />3. At the intersection of Main Street and the tracks of said railroad <br />the surface of said street shall be depressed two and six -tenths (2.6) feet below <br />the top of the highest rail of the tracks at said intersection as now maintained; <br />clearance shall be twelve and one-half (12-2) feet between the -surface of the -street <br />as fixed above and the superstructure work over said street; the grade oaf the <br />approach of said street on 'the north shall be level from the north line of the <br />superstructure until its intersects the present street grade, and on the south <br />the -grade shall be a uniform grade from the south line of the superstructure to the <br />present Crade at.the north line of Bronson Street. <br />
