193 <br />Hearing had on Reolution NO. 453 for sidewalk on west side of Oakland <br />Street from Mishawaka Avenue to Ruskin Street, In the City of South Bnd, Indiana, <br />Upon said hearing remonstrators a >peared and a written remonstrance was <br />filed. The Board being fully advised in the premises, decided to continued this matter <br />'until Tuesday July 25th.,1916 at 7:45 P.M. <br />Hearing given on Condemnation Resolution No. 44 for appropriating a strip <br />of land for the opening of an alley between Notre Dame Avenue and St. Peter Street from <br />Corby Street to Lot 23 in Sorin's 2nd. 4ddition , in the City of South Bend,Indiana. <br />In the above matter no written remonstrance was filed, but a remonstrator <br />-appeared. The Board after due consideration decided to defer all action on said resolution <br />until Tuesday July 25th.,1916 at 7:45 P.M. <br />Mr. W. G. Crab ill, attorney for the Grand Trunk Ry. Company and asked <br />farthe Board's approval of a blue print of a railway bridge to replace old bridge at St. <br />Louis Street in this City and the same was approved as follows: <br />New bridge to replace <br />old bridge and for single trackpurposes only. Solid water proof floor <br />City Contractor H. N. Barnes ordered to put in extensions in at A lle3l <br />Street and Portage Avenue. <br />Petition requesting that the electric light on W. Dunham Street west of <br />Chapin Street be moved from the present post to the 1st. post west from there. The same <br />was ordered. - <br />The following report was received, read and placed on file, _ <br />To the Honorable Board of Public Works, <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />Gentlemen: - <br />In regard to the attached petition for sidewalk and curb on Wilber Street <br />I beg to report that I have investigated the matter,and recommend that the petition <br />be not granted as there are no signers north of the C.I.&S Tracks. The greater portion <br />of the street lies north of the tracks and runs through un—platted territory. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Frederick J. Anderson, <br />City Engineer. <br />Excavation bond for the sum of One Thousand ($ 1,000.00)Dollars signed <br />by Arthur V. Meyers as principal and Massachusetts Bonding and Insrance Company as sureties <br />was a proved by the Board. <br />Communication received from 'H.'A. Pershing, in regard to sidewalk on west side <br />of Oakland Street from Mishawaka Avenue to Ruskin Street. The same was read and placed on <br />file. <br />Communication from the Northern Indiana Ry. Company acknowledging letter <br />.ordering pole moved in alley just east of 1915 West Washington Avenue. The same was read <br />and placed on file. <br />Petition received read and placed on file for a light on Kinyon Street from <br />Blaine Avenue to Portage Avenue. <br />Bona and contract for asphaltic concrete pavement on 1st. alley west of <br />Lafayette Street from Colfax Avenue to La Salle Avenue under Improvement Resolution <br />No. 431. was approved by the Board. ( signed by C. H. De Frees) <br />Bond and contract signed by H. N. Banes for grade, curb, walk and gravel <br />roadway on Indiana Avenue from Prairie Avenue to Walnut Street Was approved by the Board. <br />Pwtitions received for oiling of Lincoln Highway west from the vast line <br />,of Olive Street northwesterly to the trolley line crossing said street to gravel pit. The <br />same referred to the City Attorney for a report as to what can be done. <br />Petition for two applications of road oil on Michigan Street from Ewing Avenue <br />to approximately 300 feet south of Dunmoyer Avenue.
